The Countryside is described as the land and scenery of a rural area, located outside towns and cities, that consists of regions including huts, domestic animals, and rustic decor. In the photographic spectrum, Countryside Photography is a broad genre that refers to the photographs of rural areas. The genre is vast in itself when it comes to featuring rural people’s livelihood, their day-to-day pursuit, and rural essence. Countryside photography is incomplete until it showcases images of the rural lifestyle, scenery, and ecosystem. In this majestic issue of Chiiz Photography Magazine, we are personifying our efforts towards the “Countryside” theme. Our readers will witness a fantastic collection in our magazine’s “Feature” section, where we are highlighting Lubos Fecenko, a tremendous countryside photographer from Slovakia. In addition to this, we have Ehsanul Siddiq Aranya, an independent travel and street photographer from Bangladesh, who has captured compelling and eye-catching images. The countryside is just like an old teacher, whose importance increases with the experience. The more time one spends analyzing the rural quintessence and capturing those fresh moments, the more chances of getting awe-inspiring photographs, just like Philip Slotte and David Hixon images, featuring in Chiiz Gallery. With this much enthusiasm, we present an amazing fine-art photographer from Mumbai, India, Jayesh Visave, who has enthralled us with his colorful shapes and patterns under the photostory “Mandala: The Wheel of Life.” Though, this time we are fabricating a magical change in our magazine by featuring some of the best Indian and International photographers in Chiiz Gallery, who are regular contributors to our Chiiz contests. Some of those are Chinmoy Biswas, Sunil Choudhary, and Jukka Heinovirta. In this issue, we are replacing our “App of the Month” section with a more photography specific section, i.e., “Book Review.” This month, we are reviewing the World’s First Photo Book, “Photographs of British Algae: Cyanotype Impressions” by Anna Atkins. Anna Atkin’s botanical images will enlighten our viewers with the images that were made by the combination of algae specimens, photographic paper, sunlight, and Silhouette captures. In the “Old is Gold” column, our excellent writer Maushi is showcasing a golden photographer Louis Daguerre, who invented the “Daguerreotype process of Photography.” Louis’s one of the earliest images with the title “A Still Life” confuses people to understand whether those are real or artificial faces. In addition to this, we are featuring the happiest and the most delightful photographer Bill Cunningham’s movie in the “Movie Review” section titled “Bill Cunningham New York.” Directed by Richard Press, the film is an astonishing documentary on Bill’s view on New York streets and fashion. We are passing on this issue with our great efforts and research, assuming that our readers will be engaging with this unique issue. People usually interpret the countryside as a subgenre of Landscape and Nature, while this issue changes our perception positively and configures a better understanding of the theme. So, dive deep into this issue comprising heartful efforts by our team and providing the best guide into the world of Countryside photography, and hence, frolic the photographs.

K2

THE IMPOSSIBLE DESCENT

Sony ILCE-7RM3 70mm F/2.8 1/320 ISO3200

‘K2: The Impossible Descent’ tells the story of Bargiel’s historic ski descent. A new feature-length documentary on Red Bull TV (released on July 22) reveals what happened behind the scenes of Polish ski mountaineer Andrzej Bargiel’s world-first mission. Bargiel was an athlete keeping a low profile when he summited K2 without oxygen and skied from peak to base without removing his skis in 2018. This seemingly impossible challenge had never been completed before or since. The ascent of K2 alone is an extraordinary achievement with one in four people who attempt it never returned. Following a 60+ hour ascent up K2 without supplemental oxygen, Bargiel’s historic route down K2 involved skiing from the summit to the shoulder at 8,000m as quickly as possible to escape the notorious ‘death zone,’ where the body is dying by the minute. Bargiel had to dodge ice falling at the speed of bullets to reach the treacherous Messner Traverse, a barely-climbed narrow route with deep caverns on either side and on to the crevasse-filled KukuczkaPiotrowski route back to base camp. At the time, only Bargiel’s team, including his brother Bartek, knew how perilously close the mission came to failure when his climbing partner Janusz Gołąb became sick. A drone flown by Andrzej’s brother Bartek was used to carry up emergency medical supplies that stabilized Golab and left Bargiel free to continue to the 8,611m summit. That wasn’t the only drone rescue captured in ‘The Impossible Descent,’

Canon EOS-1D X Mark II 102mm F/5 1/4000 ISO200

which details the extreme challenges of high-altitude ski mountaineering. When British climber Rick Allen slipped from an ice cliff on the nearby Broad Peak, he was reported dead by his teammates but spotted by Bartek, who used the drone to guide the lost mountaineer back to safety. The drone came into play again, flying up to check the weather when clouds created a whiteout as Bargiel was attempting to pick his way through the technical descent. Bargiel said: “This terrain is really complicated, and you need to ‘read’ the mountain well enough. You take a wrong turn, and you could fall several hundred meters. To be in the right place at the right time, you need all the data.” Now, on the second anniversary of Bargiel’s success, this new Red Bull Media House feature-length documentary reveals the super-human physiology and mind-set that made Bargiel perfect to complete the feat. Slawomir Batyra directed the film, and its Executive Producers were Tom Fish and Michal Zamencki. From Bargiel and his team’s perspective, the film features added comments from experts, including Free Solo film codirector and ski mountaineer Jimmy Chin. Chin said: “There has been a generational shift in the use of technology to assist in doing challenging objectives in the mountains. You want to use everything in your advantage to achieve your goal.”

Movie Review Bill Cunningham New York Director: Richard Press

Producer: Philip Gefter

Genre: Documentary Special Interest

Production Companies: First Thought Films, The New York Times Company Directors of Photography: Tony Cenicola, Richard Press Editors: Ryan Denmark, Barry Alexander Brown

Initial release: Wednesday, March 16, 2011 (USA, Zeitgeist Films)

Bill Cunningham: A Follower of Henry David Thoreau “Bill Cunningham New York”- A movie about the happiest and most delightful personality as a photographer and a human being. Bill Cunningham was so lucky that he found what he loves to do and he does it, and there, he wins grants and affection “Cover of the film” from all over the world, from all who know him and this way, he contributes to our lives and times. Vogue, and the original Details magazine, which once Calling Bill Cunningham, a “fashion photographer” devoted 41 pages to a portfolio of his photos. This would be a massive misunderstanding of his fascinating documentary about famed photographer personality. He is a photographer of people and Bill Cunningham features interviews with Vogue editor what they wear. He is not a “paparazzo.” He doesn’t Anna Wintour, author Tom Wolfe and New York Times know who half the celebrities are and doesn’t care. publisher Arthur Sulzberger Jr. He’s genuinely fascinated by what people wear. He cycles to social events and openings, street fairs and parades, parks, and markets, and will stop in the middle of the street if he spots an attractive hat. In Bill’s view, fashion begins with creative individuals and not “tastemakers,” He is as interested in T-shirts as evening wear. It’s not that he’s a snob about the high and mighty; he’s sincerely affectionate about whatever people wear, and whoever they are. He works pretty much every day, taking off a little time every Sunday to attend mass.

Bill Cunningham New York: A Beautiful and an Entertaining Documentary In the documentary “Bill Cunningham New York,” Bill celebrates his 80th birthday. Every day of his life, he still pedals around Manhattan on his bicycle, taking photographs of what people are wearing. He has been famous for many years for doing this. His work has been featured in such places as Women’s Wear Daily,

It doesn’t matter if one cares nothing for clothing, fashion, or photography. One might still enjoy “Bill Cunningham New York” because here is a good and joyous man who leads a perfect life, and how many people do we meet like that?. One of the fascinating dramas of the film is this battle to salvage a part of New York’s local color. (Cunningham eventually was relocated at the city’s expense to a more upscale apartment at Columbus Circle; he had the kitchen gutted and turned into an office for his filing cabinets.) The most intriguing segment comes when producer Philip Gefter pries into Cunningham’s personal life. The 80-year-old bachelor never answers the question of whether he is gay, but he confesses matter-of-factly that he has never had a romantic relationship in his life. That revelation may startle some viewers, but the film is a touching tribute to a man whose enduring love affair has been with his work and all the strangers who continue to pique his curiosity. Old is Gold A Still Life | Louis Daguerre | 1837

Portrait of Louis Daguerre

Description: Daguerreotype by Louis Daguerre in The Artist’s Studio in 1837. Daguerre’s earliest reliably dated daguerreotype, a still life with plaster casts, was made in 1837. Louis Daguerre (1787-1851) was a French artist and photographer, recognized for his invention of the daguerreotype process of photography.

Invention of Daguerreotype The daguerreotype (A French Word: daguerréotype) process, or daguerreotypy, was the first publicly available photographic process, widely used during the 1840s and 1850s. The mesmerizing process was invented by Louis-Jacques-Mandé Daguerre and introduced worldwide in 1839. The daguerreotype was almost entirely superseded by 1860 with new, less expensive methods yielding more readily viewable images. There was a revival of daguerreotypy in the late 20th century by a few photographers interested in making artistic use of early photographic processes.

Louis Jacques Mande Daguerre Louis-Jacques-Mandé Daguerre (18 November 1787 – 10 July 1851), better known as Louis Daguerre, was a French artist and photographer recognized for his invention of the daguerreotype process of photography. He became known as one of the fathers of photography. In addition to his fame for his contributions to photography, he was also an accomplished painter and a developer of diorama theatre. Born in Cormeilles-en-Parisis, Val-d’Oise, France, he was apprenticed in architecture, theatre design, and panoramic painting to Pierre Prévost, the

first French panorama painter. Exceedingly adept at his theatrical illusion, he became a celebrated designer for the theatre, and later came to invent the diorama, which opened in Paris in July 1822.

A Still Life Well, Niépce invented photography before Daguerre did, but Daguerre made it practical and famous. In 1829 he negotiated a developmental contract with Niépce to develop the method of heliography. After 1829 and till Niépce’s death in 1833, his son Isidor, who became Daguerre’s partner upon father’s death, did not manage to develop their invention. But Daguerre, who worked independently, moved forward. His idea was to obtain an image on a bright surface of a silver plate saturated with iodine vapors, which made it photosensitive. He put the plate into a camera obscura, exposed, and developed with mercury vapors. After 11 years of experiments, he achieved results in 1837. This result includes the “A Still Life” image that is shown here in the article. He fixed the image developed with the mercury vapors by bathing it in a stable salt and hot water solution. After 1839 he changed salt in the fixation process to natrium sulfate, a locating fixture discovered by John Herschel. As a result, the silver iodide particles that had not been influenced by light washed away. Exposure time in the camera obscura was between 15 and 30 minutes. Daguerre’s fame and recognition grew as his method of obtaining images spread around the world. But after he published the facts about his process, Daguerre did not bring anything new into photography. He lived a secluded life not far from Paris until his death in 1851. Parivartasana Mandala Canon Mark II 6D F/8 1/160 ISO100

Mandala is representing the universe. The circular design symbolizes the idea that life is neverending, and everything is connected. Mandala also means a spiritual journey within an individual. So, the first level is understanding the unity in the cosmos, and secondly, each individual must find their own place within it. It is sometimes drawn as a circle enclosing a square with a deity on each side that is mainly used to aid in meditation and yoga. These Mandalas have many uses apart from meditation, such as the designs are meant to remove irritating thoughts and allow the creative mind to run free and relax.

In his own words, “MANDALA- The Wheel of Life: In this project, I have used photo language. Maybe it does not contain letters or brushes, but it has a scene and fiction. Neither nature nor people have integrity and continuity formed by a continuous chain. Everything is aimed to understand the whole. Life and death, which are described at the same time in my bipolar photography, illustrate my hybrid expression. Ultimately, I created and looked at mandalas to center the body and mind.
