Cityscape, aka Urban Landscape, is an artistic representation of a city’s physical aspects or urban area. The definite art form expresses a painting, drawing, or photograph. However, when it comes to a discrete style of photography, the correct locution to use is Cityscape Photography. It implies the most common photography genre that includes cities, lights, metropolitan areas, lakes in the towns, blue-moon cities, silhouettes at night, and a lot more that can encompass the cities itself. Anything that happens in a city can be considered merely as a Cityscape Photograph. With this issue of Chiiz Photography Magazine, we represent under the “Cityscape Photography” theme. It was really hard to shortlist some of the best photographers worldwide and feature them in this prodigious volume. We are featuring a German photographer, Benjamin Wolf, who has clicked amazing 360-degree photographs with a fisheye lens. Apart from him, we consider an Australian photographer, Giovanna Aryafara, with her astonishing African portrait photographs of the Suri tribe. We are also highlighting a German father, Markus Reugels, who plays fantastically with fluids in his High-Speed photographs. In this magnificent issue, we are again featuring some of the best photographs shortlisted by our Judges in the “Chiiz Gallery” section. It was a hectic job to shortlist some of the best images out of 5000+ photographs submitted by participants in our monthly contests. With this, we are calling attention to Imed Kolli, an Algerian photographer with his eccentric eye towards art showing homeless beggars in a fathomable way. Our spotlight focuses a documentary released by Red Bull titled “Higher Ground: Paragliding in the Himalayas”, featuring two young athletes, Thomas and Horacio. Then, we are covering a colossal and impressive series of Cityscape, photographed by a Japanese photographer, Kouki. His photographs cover the whole area of Hongkong cityscape showing mesmerizing buildings with sparkling lights all over the frame. Maushi Journal, our beloved writer, has covered two content sections, i.e., “Movie Review” and “Old is Gold’ amazingly in this volume. 1968 Vietnam war’s iconic photograph of Eddie Adams displaying General Loan executing Lem is covering a page of the “Old is Gold” section. And, we are coming with the review of a cognitive and an abstract movie “Ship of Theseus,” in the “Movie Review” section, that will inspire photographers. One must surely watch this movie to avail oneself of human life. This volume is peculiar to itself in a way as it shows the daily life vision of our life that we usually ignore. The buildings, lights, seashores, city traffic, bridges, roadsides, and most important, city people are very well covered in this issue as a Townscape. Our team has meticulously gone through the best images depicting city life and its environment and has done its part by releasing this volume. Delve into the magazine which comprises city life in a manner that no one has ever exhibited and hence, roister the photographs visually.

PARAGLIDING IN THE HIMALAYAS AN ADVENTURE DOCUMENTARY BY REDBULL
R
ed Bull has released an amazing adventure documentary, Higher Ground: Paragliding in the Himalayas, featuring two athletes from the world of paragliding – Thomas de Dorlodot and Horacio Llorens.
Crew Members: Director: Benoit Delfosse Cameraman & Drone Pilot: Imbaud Veraeghen Photographer: John Stapels Liaison Specialist: Pinot (Prithviraj Prabhakar) Late October 2019, along with a small crew, Thomas & Horacio traversed the stark North Indian landscape nestled in the Himalayas. The entire experience and journey were captured on camera and it’s here for the world to see. Horacio Llorens and Thomas de Dorlodot visited India for a great adventure across the Himalayan mountains. The European paragliders made several unassisted flights through Himachal Pradesh, starting with BirBilling and ending with several flight loops over Spiti Valley. En route, they stopped at Manali, flew over the Rohtang Pass, and took a break at Keylong. On this journey of about 350 kilometers, they achieved their target of traveling across some of the least visited destinations in their sport, camped on mountain tops, became the first paragliders to fly over Rohtang Pass, and battled rough weather to do the first-ever 6,200-metre flight over Spiti Valley. Since the flying was done without oxygen cylinders, the paragliders also made sure not to fly too high and took all the necessary safety precautions.

Thomas de Dorlodot
Horacio Llorens
What do you love most about Paragliding? Horacio Llorens- I love the freedom of flying. There is nothing that can compare to taking a few steps off the top of a mountain and flying high above the clouds, like a bird. Thomas De Dorlodot- Simplicity. It’s incredible to think that you can carry an aircraft in your backpack, open it and fly above a mountain range with it. I also like the fact that there is still a lot to be done. We feel like explorers when we fly in places where no one has been flying before.
There were green valleys, lots of trees and wild animals. But suddenly, when we crossed the icy Rohtang Pass, everything changed. There it was all rocky faces, narrow valleys, higher mountains, and very few villages. Thomas De Dorlodot- The first part of the mountain range looks a lot like the Alps, without its inhabitants. It was very green with beautiful rivers and dense forests. It was quite amazing
How did you decide to travel across the Himalayas? Horacio Llorens- Tom and I have been traveling together all around the world for the last 10 years, flying at different spots, but we had never been to the Himalayas together. Thomas De Dorlodot- Horacio and I created the SEARCH Projects years ago. Our idea is to travel, to explore and fly in new places, and to push the boundaries of our sport. We crossed Africa from north to south, flew in the Andes, and in the Alps. India and the Himalayas were high on our list for a while. We were searching for big flights and for a rich cultural experience. Could you describe the landscapes you saw while flying over the Himalayas? Horacio Llorens- I was impressed by the beauty and colorful landscapes while flying from Bir-Billing to Manali.
to see the changes happening while traveling north. On the first day, we landed in green pastures but very soon the snow took over on the high passes, and in Spiti everything was
dry and it looked a bit like a desert. What were the unexpected challenges that you faced on this trip and how did you overcome them? Horacio Llorens- The first challenge was to fly together and make the right decisions by radio to make sure we have safe and long flights. The headwind was something
we encountered throughout the adventure; it was sometimes very strong and created a lot of turbulence. Thomas De Dorlodot- The main challenge was the weather.
We encountered difficult flying conditions. The monsoon ended later this year. It was mostly turbulent and very windy. On good days, we were going above 6,000 meters without oxygen. We did not have time to do proper acclimatization so we had to be extra careful up there. We slept 4,000 meters above sea level for many nights. Apart from the thrilling sporting aspect of your trip, was there any other reason you decided to paraglide across the Himalayas? Horacio Llorens- I love high mountains and as far as that goes, there is nothing compared to the Himalayas. I had been to the mountains in Nepal and Pakistan previously, but that was not enough. I wanted to have a clear view of the heart of the Himalayas and fly above this incredible Buddhist monastery and lost valleys in Spiti. Thomas De Dorlodot- Flying in the Himalayas is a dream any pilot has. I particularly like to fly in very remote areas. When I’m flying in the Himalayas, I feel grateful to be amongst the few people who can see such views. It is one of those experiences money cannot buy. We were always in contact with my long time friend Debu Choudhury, who is a flying legend in the Indian paragliding community.
“We were at the heart of the Himalayas and the feeling was just amazing.

Old is Gold EDDIE ADAMS - 1968 - LOAN EXECUTES LEM “Two people died in that photograph. The general killed the Viet Cong; I killed the general with my camera. I was getting money for showing one man killing another. Two lives were destroyed, and I was getting paid for it. I was a hero.” - Words of Adams
“After the shot”
“Execution of Nguyen Văn Lém”
On 1st Feb 1968, In Saigon street, South Vietnam’s police chief raised a gun to the head of a handcuffed Viet Cong prisoner and abruptly pulled the trigger. A few feet away, Associated Press photographer Eddie Adams pressed his shutter and then captured himself in a cage of lifetime woe of demise. Eddie Adams, an American photographer, and photojournalist at Associated Press was an inhabitant of Bogota, New Jersey. He was noted for coverage of 13 wars. He is best known for his photograph of the execution of a Viet Cong prisoner, Nguyen Văn Lém (Bay Lop) for which he won a Pulitzer Prize for Spot News Photography in 1969.
The series of photographs describes the Major General Nguyen Ngoc Loan shooting a guy with his pistol at the temple of Bay Lop to showcase the power of his army. But, the story doesn’t end so short. There are different criticisms of the photograph with some well-recognized compliments.
Adams was covering the Vietnam war for the Associated Press and at the time, he witnessed a series of events that made a great impact on the viewer of the art and the artist. Adams described his feelings in an interview “…followed the three of them as they walked towards us, making an occasional picture. When they were close, the soldiers stopped and backed away. I saw a man (General Loan) walk into my camera viewfinder from the left. He took a pistol out of his holster and raised it. It was common to hold a pistol to the head of prisoners during questioning. So I prepared to make that picture – the threat, the interrogation. But it didn’t happen. The man just pulled a pistol out of his holster, raised it to the VC’s head, and shot him (Lem) in the temple. I made a picture at the same time.” “If you hesitate, if you don’t do your duty, the men won’t follow you,” the general said about the suddenness of his actions. Adams would later lament the impact of the photo. On Loan and his photograph, Adams wrote in Time in 1998: “Two people died in that photograph: the recipient of the bullet and General Loan. The general killed the Viet Cong; I killed the general with my camera. Still, photographs are the most powerful weapons in the world. People believe them; but photographs do lie, even without manipulation. They are only half-truths. What the photograph didn’t say was, “What would you do if you were the general at that time and place on that hot day, and you caught the so-called bad guy after he blew away one, two or three American people?” This picture really messed up his life. He never blamed me. He told me if I hadn’t taken the picture, someone else would have, but I’ve felt bad for him and his family for a long time. I sent flowers when I heard that he had died and written, “I’m sorry. There are tears in my eyes.” General Nguyen Ngoc Loan died on 14 July 1998.

Movie Review Ship of Theseus Director: Anand Gandhi Producer: Sohum Shah Cinematography: Pankaj Kumar Genre: Drama, Psychology, Special Interest Running Time: 143 min Released in India: July 19, 2013 Language: Hindi, English, Arabic, Swedish
Ship of Theseus aka Sorites Paradox, a 2012 Indian drama film explores “questions of identity, justice, beauty, meaning, and death through the stories of an Experimental Photographer, an Ailing Monk, and an Enterprising Stockbroker”, played by Aida El-Kashef, Neeraj Kabi and Sohum Shah. Photography Aspect Volume 40 of Chiiz Photography Magazine is presenting here an introspecting movie that deals with the strange question if a Photographer will remain the same if its eye is transplanted. Will the existence of that Photographer stay or now, it will be a different person. The film is very dark and deals with the philosophical aspects of human creativity.
A blind Photographer Aliya (Aida) with impaired vision, depends on sound, touch, and intuitive senses to capture images. After a corneal implant, her eyesight is restored, but the sudden visual download is so domineering that Aliya finds herself overwhelmed in an unfamiliar world, losing touch with her natural instincts. Aliya, a blind photographer (a paradox in itself some would feel) who when gets her sight back should technically start seeing but what happens instead is that she stops seeing what she could see quite clearly without eye-sight. What happens to her art then? This implant changes her vision as a Photographer. Because of the implantation of an eye, she had a different creative eye for photography now.
“The official cover of the film” learns how intricate morality could be. These disparate characters manifest philosophical dilemmas in their personal lives, but their narratives converge to reveal an even larger fabric of connections, meaning, beauty, existence, and death in a delicately poetic finale.
Already hugely feted by critics, Gandhi’s film has plenty of didacticism. He uses the screenplay as a vehicle for philosophical ideas and most of the scenes are arguments about the nature of the body, soul, and extreme idealism.
