Touching Your Lives

by Rabbi Debi Wechsler Take a moment and think about one personal experience that was important to you in your engagement with Chizuk Amuno. Share what this experience was and what made it memorable. This was the assignment given recently to a group at the synagogue and the responses were as varied as they were touching. Several spoke of the b’nei mitzvah of their children and how that process connected them intimately to Chizuk. Others spoke

of community response during illness and death and how that made them feel embraced and immersed in the congregation. One spoke of the Torah writing project and the personal and touching nature of that experience; and still another told of their time in the family service and the sheer joy of splitting the Red Sea and being enveloped in a loving congregation of children and parents. It was a beautiful tapestry of what Chizuk Amuno is to many of us and what it could be to others of us. I left that group with a sense of gratitude for the ways that Chizuk is

actively present in the lives of those who enter our doors. I also left with an appreciation for the many opportunities we have to touch the lives of others in profound ways and a desire to find more such opportunities to welcome others. I would very much like to hear about a personal experience that was important to you in your engagement with Chizuk Amuno. Please visit our website www.chizukamuno.org where you will see that I have cross posted this onto a blog, and share your experience with Chizuk and what made it memorable.
