‘Contains: Fish’ is a homage to Anna Atkins’ ‘British Algae: Cyanotype Impressions’. In it, I investigate and deconstruct the representation of photography and other digital mediums by exploring four different methods of representing fish. Through digital drawings, colours sampled from the fish, the fish’s scientific name and close up images of carefully selected sections of the fish, I draw attention to how none of them are a fully accurate representation of the fish itself, unlike seeing it in person. This bookwork offers the reader four different clues about a fish, and encourages them to piece together an overall image themselves.
