Tern Valley Tractor Road Run On Sunday 25th July 2021 Photos and report by Barry Job
T
he Tern Valley Vintage Machinery Trust has been returning to normality by holding monthly meetings once again and organising a tractor road run. This was well organised by Mike Johnson and Gerry Hobday and was held on Sunday 25th July. Starting at the Stoke on Tern Village Hall, Shropshire, the 20 mile route of country lanes and off road sections passed south and east through Ollerton, Hinstock and Sambrook to reach the half way stop at Mow Cop Farm. Suitably refreshed the drivers headed north and west through Cheswardine and Hinstock to return to the starting point by mid afternoon. 52 tractors participated with a group travelling all the way from
Lymm in Cheshire, they said how impressed they were with the Shropshire countryside and would gladly return for future runs. The weather forecast leading up to the event was dire with thunder and heavy rain anticipated, but fortunately the day was dry and sunny. The day passed off smoothly without any breakdowns. The event raised £600 to be divided equally between the local Saint Peter's Church and Stoke on Tern Village Hall. For more information on the Trust's activities see www.tvvmt.co.uk
The most unusual tractor on the run was Robert Peacock's 1992 Antares made by the Italian company SAME
