What are the things that stand between you and complete happiness?
Probably a space to create and an unlimited supply or materials. Ever since I graduated from art school (2007) I’ve never stopped making work whether it was painting, taking photographs or designing clothes, I’ve always found a way to ‘make stuff’ regardless of what situation I was in. I’m not sure if complete happiness is attainable but I definitely get depressed if I’m not creating.
Follow your heart, it’s what my father has always told me.
What were you doing when you lost track of time?
I tend to be pretty on point when it comes to tracking time but if I were to lose it I was probably “in the zone” painting.
What’s the most interesting thing about you that we wouldn’t learn from your work alone?
My parents moved around a lot so I’ve lived in 7 different countries and speak 4 languages fluently. I think that all the moving around and being exposed to different cultures has in a way influenced my approach to how I work since I’m constantly trying to express myself with various mediums just like I do with languages.
You are a new addition to the crayon box. What colour would you be and why?
Can I pick two colours? Burnt Umber and Ultramarine Blue mixed at the right amounts make Black, but they can oscillate between warmer and cooler shades depending on the quantities of paint mixed, I really like that.

What are the things that stand between you and complete happiness?
The desire.
If you could send a message to the entire world, what would you say in 30 seconds?
I would share my music playlist with the entire world. Music is the most beautiful sound and there are so many great musicians.
What were you doing when you lost track of time?
To quote Zima from the Series Love, Death + Robots “I would immerse myself. And as I do, I will slowly shut down my higher brain functions un-making myself leaving just enough to appreciate my surroundings to extract some simple pleasure from the execution of a task well done. My search for truth is finished at last. I’m going home.”
What’s the most interesting thing about you that we wouldn’t learn from your work alone?
That I am an easy-going guy.
You are a new addition to the crayon box. What colour would you be and why?
Black. It is stable, calm, and absorbs every other colour on the spectrum.

What are the things that stand between you and complete happiness?
Feelings of doubt that leads to mental illness. We should always keep a creative mindset. If anything bad happens, it won’t affect us as much.
If you could send a message to the entire world, what would you say in 30 seconds?
It’s gonna be ok just let it be. I would play “let it be” for 30 seconds.
What were you doing when you lost track of time?
Talking about nothing with old friends. We took deferent paths, saw different things, and now sharing the same moment. It’s inspiring and coming up with lots of ideas.
What’s the most interesting thing about you that we wouldn’t learn from your work alone?
What more important to me when I create things is the process. I collaborate with people from my good friends to new people. Gathering individual perspectives enables me to go beyond expectations.
I’d rather be a canvas to hold colors. I happen to meet people in various ways, get interested in their characters, putting them together into a piece of art is my path to creations.

Caring a lot about what others think. What is time other than always running away anyways.
What’s the most interesting thing about you that we wouldn’t learn from your work alone?
It takes lots of work, dedication, persistence and passion to do the work itself. What’s interesting about it is not many people understand it.

I don’t believe in “complete happiness”, I think that’s an impossible notion. I strive instead for wholeness and integrity I suppose; feeling everything, and acting in integrity with my body, my relations, and my values. the composting of capitalism, whiteness, and settler colonialism would do a lot for my happiness though.
If you could send a message to the entire world, what would you say in 30 seconds?
There is so much noise in our world already, so much information, barraging our minds every day. I would rather leave the 30 seconds to gentle silence.
What were you doing when you lost track of time?
I would like to lose track of time forever. I tend to happily lose the thread when I’m outside walking in the woods where I can find them in the city.
What does success mean to you?
Success to me is forgetting about success and removing internalized capitalist notions of productivity = value; focusing on the means instead of the ends, process over product. and then when the work is done, to step back and let go. I value living simply, with deep relationships, human and more-than-human.
What would you regret not fully doing, being or having in your life?
I would regret not returning to my homeland of Ukraine, where I haven’t been since I was a kid; I would regret not attempting to start a farm/ homestead away from the city. I would regret it if I let fear guide me.

What are the things that stand between you and complete happiness?
I don’t think that complete happiness is a realistic or attainable goal to set for one’s self. Instead, I think that obstacles are opportunities for real and deep growth, and that life is a series of journeys that are often far more interesting than their destinations.
If you could send a message to the entire world, what would you say in 30 seconds?
Begin each morning tenderly.
What were you doing when you lost track of time?
I lose track of time when I am fully living in the moment, and I try to do exactly that as often as I can.
What’s the most interesting thing about you that we wouldn’t learn from your work alone?
Most people do not take me for an adventurer, but I have trekked in the Andes, the Himalayas, and I have backpacked extensively in my home state, California.

My body and desire.
If you could send a message to the entire world, what would you say in 30 seconds?
Everyone who comes to this world has his/her vocation, but many trivial matters and negative emotions conceal that calling. If there is a kind of energy that can stimulate tremendous potential in everyone’s talent, I desire to see what the world will become at that moment.
What were you doing when you lost track of time?
Dreaming.
What’s the most interesting thing about you that we wouldn’t learn from your work alone?
Most of my works are vibrant and organic, with many elements and details. But in fact, I am a minimalist. Vibrant colors rarely appear at my home, and I only have a few organized necessities. It is the opposite of the feeling that my work brings to public.
You are a new addition to the crayon box. What colour would you be and why?
Orange. For me, red is too strong. It is just like my optimistic side. Although I am an enthusiastic and energetic person, I am often affected by dim emotions. So I think orange is my most representative color. It is bright and vibrant but soft and faint.
