What’s the most interesting thing about you that we wouldn’t learn from your work alone?

I grew up in a tiny village on the Zimbabwe/ Botswana border. I was obsessed with all wildlife and ended up bringing all sorts home, including loads of snakes, an iguana and a porcupine among many of others.

What is your favourite quote and why?

“If I’m free, it’s because I’m always running!!!” - Jimi Hendrix That is the why!!!

The sun is beautiful, the snow is beautiful, a female comedian who makes jokes about male is beautiful, and the smiling boy lives in the countryside is beautiful. Everything we can feel can become our motivation to look forward to tomorrow. Movie stories, social phenomena, legends, science, and stories happening around all inspire me.

What is your biggest passion?

Create dreams with like-minded creatives for a whole day. Maybe order some bubble tea will make life better.

What’s something you think every person should experience in their lifetime?

Runaway from home...Maybe travel alone is safer. Surviving in a completely unfamiliar environment always allows people to learn a lot.

What’s the most interesting thing about you that we wouldn’t learn from your work alone?

I don’t like social, and I don’t like talking during shooting. Sometimes I meet models who need to mobilize emotions, I will try to make some jokes, but sometimes it makes the situation more embarrassing.

What is your favourite quote and why?

One of my favourite quotes recently is: Home is more important than miracle. Many people are constantly working towards unknown goals to get more, but in fact, sometimes we already have the most important things.

What in life is beautiful to you? Where do you find inspiration?

Architecture and art are constant sources of inspiration for me.

What is your biggest passion?

My biggest passion is the work process, creating a picture, working with different materials, and searching for new ideas. I love spending time in museums and exhibitions, exploring different approaches and forms of creativity - this is also a source of inspiration and an impetus for creating something new and unique.

What’s something you think every person should experience in their lifetime?

I think that every person should experience a passion, the process of both finding and pursuing that passion, and enjoying the end result.

What’s the most interesting thing about you that we wouldn’t learn from your work alone?

As a child, I spent a lot of time behind the scenes of theater plays, watching the creation of costumes and scenery. This in a certain way influenced my vision and creativity. When I work on a painting, I often think about the theater and the transformation of the painting into set design, so I am interested in using different means of artistic expression.

What is your favourite quote and why?

“Follow the White Rabbit” Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.

I believe that beauty arises from an awareness of contrast. It is the seam where two opposing ideas meet - what is beautiful is the acknowledgment of differences. Just as there is beauty in movements - like dance or music for example - in opposition to that I find the pause for observation that is created through the static nature of drawings or paintings to carry a similar, though contrasting, sort of beauty. It is this pause that enables the relationship between viewer and artwork, so the viewer may move through their consideration of the artwork. That moment of friction, between first seeing the work and then contemplating it, is where complicated thoughts are made almost tangible in a way - visual for one to comprehend. It gives allowance to first reflect rather than immediate reaction.

What is your biggest passion?

Maybe it’s safe to say that my current biggest passion is my ongoing exploration of intimacy and vulnerability - how they relate to one another, as well as my own pursuit of them and the search for what they mean to me.

What’s something you think every person should experience in their lifetime?

Everyone should explore, travel if they can. Pushing your boundaries by finding your way through a new neighbourhood, or heading to a new country. Fear of losing your way can keep us cut off, both from others and ourselves. Growth can happen when you move past your comfort zone. I suppose that’s why I enjoy exploring stylistically on occasion.

What’s the most interesting thing about you that we wouldn’t learn from your work alone?

Though I love to be around people, I am more naturally an introvert than most people might assume. Despite the joy I find in immersing myself in conversations and experiences, the need to recharge and have time to myself is crucial to how I operate - sort of like a capacitor. I really appreciate my alone time.

What is your favourite quote and why?

“Be the person you wish you had” My work often explores some sort of relationship, whether it be between people, or the relationship an individual might have with themselves or their surroundings and all the contrasting and sometimes conflicting emotions that happen within all of these interactions. It all stems from my fascination with how things all seem to respond to one another, how everything connects. So it’s only natural I guess for the first quote to pop into my head to be one that is exactly about all of that - connection, relationships, and self-identity.

I’m not sure I really know where I find my inspiration. I try not to think to hard about it. There’s so much great work out there now, I used to make a huge effort to take on what I love from photographers I admire, and use that influence productively, and I sort of lost touch with what I was trying to do. But I’ve recently found a lot joy in doing the opposite of that and actually producing work I’ve never seen before.

What is your biggest passion?

For a long time it was Cinema. I’m dialling in on Fashion Photography and CG/3D art and production VFX now.

What’s something you think every person should experience in their lifetime?

Deep loss and hardship.

What’s the most interesting thing about you that we wouldn’t learn from your work alone?

Likely still trying to figure that one out. Sometimes I worry the most interesting thing about me is my work.

What in life is beautiful to you? Where do you find inspiration?

Creatures. I absolutely love watching deep sea documentaries about the strange, wonderful and gruesome creatures. When I discover a new kind of animal and I am not sure if it a fantasy creature or a real animal I get this incredible rush from inspiration. Monsters are just animals we have not discovered yet. Every creature I create could be real. Maybe we just have not discovered it yet.

What is your biggest passion?

Creating art ofcourse! I started drawing when I was 4 and never really stopped.

What’s something you think every person should experience in their lifetime?

Diving. The first time I dived I was around 10 years old and this experience had such a big impact on my life. Diving has influenced my art in so many different ways. Diving really opens up a world you can`t really experience without coming out of your comfort zone. If you are an artist, I recommend diving.

What’s the most interesting thing about you that we wouldn’t learn from your work alone?

I can draw with both hands. When I was with my internship a few years ago, I developed RSI (Repetitive Strain Injury) from drawing too much. This made me unable to use my right hand. My mentor at this company told me to stop the internship 2 months earlier. I told him no and started to draw with my left hand. Eventually I got through the last two months of my internship with drawing with my left hand.

What is your favourite quote and why?

“Some people can`t see the color red. That doesn`t mean it isn`t there,” – Sue Grafton

I absolutely adore this quote. It perfectly captures my feeling about the supernatural. I think it is foolish of humans to believe there is absolutely nothing behind their world of understanding. I am not sure if there is something more out there but I would like to believe that there is.

There’s not a specific place for me, I can be watching a movie or a new anime and find inspiration. But I find other artists the most inspiring, seeing how another human can make a wildly different interpretation than the ones I come up with its something that intrigues me and makes me want to explore and experience different ways to do what I do.

What is your biggest passion?

My biggest passion at risk of sounding cliché is my love for makeup. Is one of the few things in life I’m certain. I love concentrating on doing makeup and creating a look for a shoot, I feel the most engage and no matter what happen that day I always lose myself into it.

What’s something you think every person should experience in their lifetime?

Every person should try to experience different cultures and travel. For me growing up in Venezuela I wasn’t expose to many different cultures and only after I moved to Toronto and experience a really multicultural city I felt like I grow and mature really as a person. Is important to be able to be exposed to different ways to think to create a better sense of yourself and what’s really important to you as a person.

What’s the most interesting thing about you that we wouldn’t learn from your work alone?

I would say you will never know who much I enjoy cooking and how much I love it. Its one of the things that like makeup I’m creating something out a few ingredients and I’m allowed to experiment and try new things. And the best part is I get to eat it at the end.

What is your favourite quote and why?

I’m not sure if this qualify but, I once heard something that stuck on me and I try to think about that whenever I’m not sure of what decision I should make in a given situation. “Never change things because your running away from something, do it because you really want the change”.

What in life is beautiful to you? Where do you find inspiration?

Nature is beautiful to me. Of course I do find inspiration in beauty, but also in negative stuff that makes me think a lot. Human psyche is very interesting to me, there is so much to explore in why and how we do function like we do. Often I think you can not tell if my pieces are positive or negative. there’s always swinging a little of both in it I guess.

What is your biggest passion?

Well... I would not describe myself as the most passionate person. For me, passion means you really have to have this burning desire for something. I mean, maybe from the outside you can say my passion is drawing, but for me it’s something different from passion. It’s escape from reality, processing things, pure relaxation and so much more.

What’s something you think every person should experience in their lifetime?

I guess love? it’s a big question, and the more I think the harder it gets to answer this one. I mean every person? who am i to answer that...so, love is it, because I think this is something that helps us to become the best possible version of our selves, and so we can also spread love too.

What’s the most interesting thing about you that we wouldn’t learn from your work alone?

Aah seriously, this questions are killing me :) I really thought about it, but I didn’t found something interesting. I’m a sand grain on a huge beach.

Everything in life has the potential to be beautiful, you just have to for the beauty in it. Sometimes the smallest things are the most beautiful. I love to look for the inspiration in everything in life, nothing is too big or too small to spark an idea!

What is your biggest passion?

The Arts. Since the as far back as I can remember I have always loved creating art, whether it be photography, painting, drawing.

What’s something you think every person should experience in their lifetime?

Traveling to another country and experiencing a different culture. I personally cannot underscore how much stepping out of your comfort zone can create some of the most beautiful and meaningful moments.

What’s the most interesting thing about you that we wouldn’t learn from your work alone?

I am pretty dedicated to my work, almost everything I do revolves around my work.

What is your favourite quote and why?

“Failure is success in progress.” - Albert Einstein. I honestly believe that our failures are just as important as our successes. It makes us value our successes even more.
