for His will as well as a closer relationship which strengthens His people to serve, not only in the pulpits, but out in the fields, hospitals, in other ministries praying for the sick, in office jobs, or wherever the Lord wants them to go. There is much to do, and the important thing is not to begin, but to FINISH! There will be problems along the way, but if God has called us to His service, He will support us as we stand firm! And the reward for our labor will come from God! Christian Triumph is a work which needs your prayers.

The Grace of God will always be with the people that seek the Lord and desire to serve Him. As a leader of the truth, with this precious ministry, I read in Proverbs 4:5, 6, how we can receive understanding and knowledge: by not forgetting or turning away from God’s Word but by keeping, loving and conserving it within our hearts which will result in what we desire: “Wisdom.” In these days, God is still raising up laborers with a thirst

Duran. At that time, he was the Director of the Bible Institute there. It was my desire to serve, but God changed my plans, and we came to Corpus Christi and have been here for eight years. In my work, I read many Spanish letters; they tell us of their needs as well as request tracts, Bibles, a free subscription to the El Mensajero, and other literature. Along with our Pastors-Israel and Vitalina Hernandez, we remember their petitions at church. Each Friday night at 8 P.M. – 9 P.M., as well as Saturday morning from 7:00 A.M. – 8 A.M., we pray for these dear ones and for the needs of this world. My friends, in your work and in your life, remember to “Wait on the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” Psalm 27:14. Titus 2:13, tells us to “live godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope - the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ…” We love and thank you. God bless you each one.

The local Bible Institute was placed on hold so that the old, deteriorating buildings of Christian Triumph could be replaced by a safer environment. The work on this construction has been slow although we continue to praise God for His financial Gift of help - from two precious sisters who are now with the Lord. Once this building process is completed, the Bible Institute can continue. Please pray for teachers and students that God will supply their needs. The harvest is great, but the laborers are few. Christian Triumph has stood through three generations and our desire is to keep moving forward. The founders’ great grandchildren are also working in the ministry as well as the Hernandez family. We thank God for the great number of correspondent students taking the Bible course through the mail. The greatest amount is in Peru where the Lord is really working and also in Brazil. Even though the people are going through problems and wars, God is greater and He is with them. Congratulations to all these brave brethren; keep marching forward! As for myself, your servant, I am very happy to have the privilege of serving in this way at Triunfo Cristiano. Earlier in my life, I wanted to work at a place in Puente, California with Brother

foster child. The child’s natural mother was on Cocaine. The baby slept very little, suffering from withdrawal pains. The foster mother cared for her night and day and began to love the baby very much. The natural mother was still on Cocaine, and the foster mother got an attorney and tried to adopt the baby. Sometime later, they went back to court, thinking they would win this time, but, again, were very disappointed. When the little girl was three years of age, the attorney and the young nurse, with her little girl in her arms, stood before the Judge. When all was finished and the adoption was final, the mother turned to leave and whispered in her daughter’s ear, “You’re mine!” They had walked about halfway up the courtroom aisle when the little girl threw her arms around her mother’s neck and declared (loud and clear), “I’m yours. I’m yours!” Below, an unknown writer has related her own experience of being reminded of God’s goodness to her.

A TIME TO THANK THE LORD By Melissa Ann Bell Author of White Collar Skid Row - And Speaker Four small pie pumpkins are on my front porch. Soon I’ll be making fresh pumpkin for pies. Pie baking started for me watching Mama make crust in a wooden bowl. I remember those pumpkin pies on Thanksgiving Day. I remember Daddy prayed at the table and thanked the Lord for the food and the hands that prepared it. He didn’t say it, but as a little girl I knew he was thanking the Lord for Mama’s hands. Others thank the Lord for different things in different ways. David lifted his eyes to the hills and declared where his help came from. He tells us in Psalms 121: “My help comes from the Lord who made heaven and earth.” KJV Isaiah’s heart must have soared with gratitude as he foretold the coming of Christ when he said in Isaiah 53:5, “He was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities, the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.” We can be spontaneous and excited like a child in our gratitude. About thirty years ago, I heard a story of a nurse who took a newborn baby girl as a

Today upon a bus, I saw a lovely maid with golden hair. I envied her she seemed so [happy] - and wished I were so fair. When suddenly she arose to leave, I saw the cruel braces as she hobbled down the aisle: a victim of polio was she. But as she passed -a smile she gave to me. Page 5

A DAY AT CHRISTIAN TRIUMPH

Oh, God, forgive me when I whine. I have two straight feet. The world is mine!

By Editor

This adjacent poem makes me think of a hard lesson I learned one month ago. I was hurrying, as usual, to get the mail from the front porch, and without thinking, turned suddenly, stepping off into thin air. In missing the next step down, I hit the ground with my whole body, falling on top of my ankle and leg. Needless to say, during the next few minutes, the only word that came out of my mouth was “Jesus!” as I called upon HIS NAME. I pleaded for my ankles and legs to not be broken. (That had already happened seven years ago.) Thankfully, God’s mercy was greater than my carelessness, and after x-rays, the focal point changed to “hurry-up and wait!” A bruised, sprained ankle can take many days to heal. So, with BOOT on and crutches, I began working again, but this time doing so - slowly and patiently. The Good Lord responded with spiritual education and homework. One of the first lessons was to, once again, glimpse a man standing by a store with a crutch and only one leg. I had already prayed for that man before, but this time, my heart went out to him deeply. Page 6

And then I stopped to buy some sweets. The lad who sold them had such charm. I talked with him. He said to me: “It’s nice to talk with folks like you. You see,” he said, “I’m blind!” Oh, God forgive me when I whine. I have two eyes. The world is mine! Then walking down the street, I saw a child with eyes of blue. We stood and watched the others play. It seemed he knew not what to do. I stopped a moment, then said: “Why don’t you join the others, dear?” He looked ahead without a word, and then I knew he could not hear. Oh, God forgive me when I whine. I have two ears. The world is mine! With feet to take me where I’d go, with eyes to see the sunset’s glow, with ears to hear what I would know –Oh, God, forgive me when I whine. I’m blessed indeed. The world is mine! This Thanksgiving I want to be very thankful for the things I sometimes take for granted, and with excitement, I too want to say, “Thank you, Lord, I’m yours, I’m yours, I’m yours!” Happy Thanksgiving! BLESSED ASSURANCE

What courage it must take to stand alone while people pass quickly by, unseeing and unfeeling. God bless all those who face such challenges. Later I saw another man who seemed in pain as he walked carefully with his lower limb prosthesis. “Have mercy, O Lord.” Then when I went to the Post Office, one of the workers carried out a box for Christian Triumph from Atlanta, Texas, with used English Quarterlies to share. He told about his daughter seriously spraining her ankle as she played tennis. It was at a crucial time for the team. Somehow, she was able to finish, meeting the challenge with unbelievable bravery. Thankfully, our Creator has instilled in his beloved children the ability to go forward even in difficulties, and to finish the race. JESUS knows all about suffering for he was crushed for our guilt and bore our iniquities. Isaiah 53 And He cares about our pain, even though we are hurrying too fast or in no-fault accidents. This Thanksgiving – my prayers of thankfulness are for His goodness, but they also include petitions for those who are injured, hurting, and disabled in challenging ways. May God bless! Happy Thanksgiving!

The wind came up; the waves splashed onto the shore, and out above the water flew a sea bird. It exhibited no fear, just an assurance that with a little time and a little trust, things would be all right. Suddenly, with a God-created, instinctive confidence, it dropped to the turbulent sea and sat upon its regal throne of stormy, silver-gray water.

Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine! Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine! Heir of salvation, purchase of God, Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood. Refrain: This is my story, this is my song, Praising my Savior all the day long; This is my story, this is my song. Praising my Savior all the day long. Perfect submission, perfect delight, Visions of rapture now burst on my sight; Angels, descending, bring from above Echoes of mercy, whispers of love. Perfect submission, all is at rest, I in my Savior am happy and blest, Watching and waiting, looking above, Filled with His goodness, lost in His love.

“For I am the Lord your God, who churns up the sea so that its waves roar-The Lord Almighty…” Isaiah 51 NIV

THANK YOU! – to Cass Baptist Church in Atlanta, Texas for the box of quarterlies. Christian Triumph is receiving requests from Africa for literature, and these will help.

NO OUTSIDERS HERE Have you experienced what it's l’ke to be outside, Looking in from the cold on a dark winter's n’ght, To the comfort and warmth of a cozy fire inside? Even from the outside, it's a’most beautiful sight! Have you ever had the feeling of being excluded From a group of which you wished to be a part; An intimacy in which you longed to be included, But to bring it about you didn't k’ow how to start?

We appreciate each prayer that is said for Christian Triumph. One of our workers is having health problems, but another one is doing much better. Bless the Lord!

In the household of God, everyone is welcome; No one is excluded by his language, race or color. For all of us are guests, and to everyone it's h’me; None is superior—each one's a’sister or a brother.

Please remember Anita (writer) and her husband, Gerald. Please pray for Sara – her husband recently went HOME, to his eternal reward.

There are no outsiders here—Jesus made it clear. We all came in thru' Ch’ist, who is the only door; There is no other way—whatever you may hear. All are welcome—there's a’ways room for more. Byrum C. Lee: 06/2012

Update on Evelyn Anderson: The Christian Triumph founder’s daughter, Evelyn Anderson, has regained some strength in her legs. We praise God! With thanksgiving, we remember our loved ones who have gone before. “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith…” Heb. 12

One Thanksgiving, a Singles’ Director felt led to invite anyone at the Church, without family, to come to her home on Thanksgiving Day. Two ladies who had no place to go happily came, and the day was spent with joy and gladness. One church in a mid-size Missouri town always offers a free Thanksgiving meal. Other churches in other cities do the same. God bless their ministry. We would be glad to share in the Faith Messenger what your church does at Thanksgiving or at Christmas.

Christian Triumph appreciates each and every person who has supported this ministry by reading the Faith Messenger or corresponding with us. You are never forgotten! 7
