The blessings of the faithful They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of His splendor. …the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory. …for as the soil makes the sprout come up and a garden causes seed to grow, so the Sovereign Lord will make righteousness and praise spring up before all nations. Isaiah 61

Today I went out to the garden that my husband planted. Thinking back, not long ago it was just an area of freshly turned dirt; then he measured out one row at a time to begin planting. Some of the rows contained little plants he had purchased as starters, and in some he planted seeds. He also has some plants growing in patio containers. Soon the little seeds had sprouted, and above the dirt were little bits of green plants. Weeds needed to be hoed and cleaned away. During the hot dry weather, it took effort to keep watering so that the little plants stayed alive. Some needed a trellis to climb on; others needed fertilizer to keep them growing well. My husband enjoys gardening, and we have reaped the rewards of his efforts. I keep in mind that it takes intentional efforts in order to reap the rewards. Already, we have enjoyed the fruits of his labor as well as sharing the harvest with others. Although there will still be more garden goodies to gather, as time goes by, we know that before long, it will wilt away, and the season will be past. This setting is an important reminder that during this life time, as we endeavor to do the things we should and shun those that would hinder, there will be seasons of challenge; yet, the Words of God promise that our Loving Heavenly Father will always help us and bestow great rewards on each one who will trust and obey Him. Galatians 6: 9 " And let us not be weary in well doing: for

in due season we shall reap, if we faint not." Galatians 6:7 "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for

whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap." Anita

Matthew – The Hated Tax Collector As Jesus went on from there, He saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector’s booth. Follow me, He told him, and Matthew got up and followed him. While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew’s house, many tax collectors and sinners came and ate with him and his disciples. When the Pharisees saw this, they asked His disciples, Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners? On hearing this, Jesus said, It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. But go and learn what this means: I desire mercy not sacrifice. For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners. Matt. 9 NIV

For as the soil makes the sprout come up and a garden causes seeds to grow, so the Sovereign Lord will make righteousness and praise spring up before all nations. The law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. [God’s] Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs--heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8 NIV

True: our lives on earth are similar to a garden: we reap what we sow. For years we may pay the price for unwise decisions, but our eternal souls (everlasting Beings) can be forgiven, called by a new name and become a royal diadem in the hand of God.

A wilting plant, when given the water of life, can grow again and reach noble heights - just like a person who places his or her trust in Jesus Christ for a new life. Scriptures found in Romans 8 and Isaiah 61, 62 NIV

Never Give Up!

There may be lot of reasons why God shouldn't call us. But if we hunger for Him, He'll use us in spite of who we are, where we've been, what we have done, or the fact that we are not perfect!

Is God calling? But… ….I'm not perfect. I have all kinds of problems. I don't know the Bible well enough. I have no ability. I don't have any gifts. I'm limited. I'm just not worthy. Well, did you know these genuine Biblical persons had these troubles: John Mark deserted Paul. Timothy had ulcers. Hosea's wife was a prostitute. Amos' only training was in the school of fig-tree pruning. Jacob was a liar. David had an affair. Solomon was too rich. Abraham was too old. David was too young. David's armor didn't fit. Peter was afraid of death. Lazarus was dead. John was self-righteous. Naomi was a widow. Paul was a persecutor of the church. Moses was a murderer. Jonah ran from God's will. Miriam was a gossip. Gideon and Thomas both doubted. Jeremiah was depressed and suicidal. Elijah was burned out. Martha was a worry-wart. Did I mention that Moses had a short fuse? So did Peter, Paul - well, lots of folks did.

------------------And By The Way… …Those genuine Biblical persons might have been ill, depressed, unprepared, doubters, shorttempered, etc., but God chose them for His purpose, in His way and in His time. In fact, the very first person “John Mark” “regrouped” and went to serve Paul (the Apostle whom he deserted) while Paul waited for his death in a Roman prison. John Mark, with the help of God, redeemed himself and even had the great privilege of writing the earliest of the Gospels, the Editor New Testament Book of Mark.

God doesn't require a job interview for salvation. He's our Heavenly Father. He doesn't look at financial gain or loss. He knows who we are, what we are, what we've done and loves us in spite of ourselves.

Walking Man By Narciso Zamora

The following is a part of Narciso’s real life story:

SATAN WANTS US TO LOOK BACKWARD AND SEE OUR MISTAKES. GOD WANTS US TO LOOK BACKWARD AND SEE THE CROSS AND AN EMPTY TOMB.

The Care and Protection of God While we were busy building the work of (pg 4) 3

the Church of God in Ecuador, our funds were steadily dwindling until there was nothing left. One afternoon we showed a film in a neighborhood called Pomasqui. Brother Pedro Acosta from HCJB had brought the film and equipment to us. That night after the outdoor cinema and a brief sermon, Brother Pedro approached me and asked, “Do you have financial support coming from Peru or anywhere else? Or do you work somewhere in Quito?” My reply was: “We live by faith. The Lord helps us to continue this work of starting the Church of God in Ecuador. We don’t have any outside support. I can’t hold a regular job in Ecuador because I have a missionary visa that prohibits working elsewhere. I can only work for the church.” Brother Pedro took my address and the next day at 3:00 p.m., he and his wife came for a visit. They knocked on the door and shouted, “Does Pastor Zamora live here?” I was upstairs, so I quickly came down while my wife went out to meet them. In their truck they had brought 50 kilos of rice, sugar, flour, pasta, boxed milk and oatmeal. My wife was particularly surprised at this most generous gift. After they left she said, “Do you think they realize we’re Peruvian?” That blessing was from God who knows no borders or geopolitical boundaries. We thanked God for that food. One week later, Brother Pedro came to visit again. He said, “Brother Narciso and Sister Udelia, we would like to give you a refrigerator. It’s used but if you would like to have it, we will bring it now.” We were elated – we never owned a refrigerator. We thanked God and left with Brother Pedro to go get the refrigerator in the north of Quito, about an hour way. We went to Brother Pedro’s farm, picked up the refrigerator and my wife, children and I were so happy as we headed home with this great gift from God. A refrigerator would have been very difficult for us to ever afford, but the Lord knows our hearts and he supplies our needs. The Lord used Brother and Sister Acosta to help us with food and a refrigerator. God can do amazing things we don’t even think to imagine.

A NEW JOURNEY OF FAITH IN PERU In summer 2012, Christian Triumph cosponsored a mission trip to Cajamarca, Peru, with seven people in attendance. The group delivered children’s ministry workshops throughout the region and in the Amazon jungle. Jesse Fox was one of the seven on that trip and it was his first experience traveling out of the country and his first taste of missions work. As a very tall person, Jesse was quite the novelty in Peru, where few men reach six feet tall. People loved to approach him and he loved the contact with the people. Since returning, he had in his heart to someday go back. And that day is September 28. Jesse is going on faith to see what God might have in store for him. With a Spanish book in his backpack and on a miserly $350 a month budget, he will be first learning the language and culture while attending church and helping in as much as possible with the youth at the Chota, Cajamarca Church of God. The church has a room for him to stay in. Jesse is going independently, like the missionaries of old did before missionary societies formed in the early 1800s. He has no return ticket and only a sixmonth, renewable tourist visa, so there are many details he is trusting God to resolve. Please be in prayer for this experience, for Jesse’s quick learning of Spanish, effectiveness in ministry and good health.

“I HAVE PLANS FOR YOU” Jeremiah 29:11-13

When Israel was in Babylon, With no hope on the horizon, God said, “I have plans for you – Plans to prosper, not harm you.” You still have a great future, Of that you can be sure. He says, “I’m not thru’ with you, yet; And, you, I will never forget.”

Have you ever made definite, “tune altered” within plans, only to have your hours or moments? Life has a unique way of changing circumstances. For example, the worse car wreck I ever had occurred while I was simply driving along, peacefully, on vacation. In a split second a travel van hit the bumper of my little car, spinning it like a toy down the freeway; the abrasive music of crunching metal ceased only when the car landed on its top. The familiar music of everyday life completely changed as a head injury forced me to quit work and depend on the medical community as well as Disability. And yet, it was because of this wreck that I learned to sing a New Song - for in needing God so desperately, I discovered my Best Friend. The treasured tune He placed within my soul was one of encouragement and sweet assurance as, slowly, His Heavenly music began to transform sorrow into joy. God is all things to all people. If our lives suddenly take an alarming turn, we can call out to Him asking for help. He listens and will respond. “He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God…” Psalm 40:3 Nothing can hold us back if we move forward, ever so slowly, holding tightly to God’s outstretched hand. There is no sweeter music than this sincere, continuous promise of God: “‘For I know the plans I have for you’, declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.’” Jeremiah 29:11

Jeremiah’s words proved to be true— After Seventy years—not a day overdue, God sent Israel help, thru’ Ezra and Nehemiah; As he would later send Jesus, the Messiah. But while the temple, they were rebuilding, Sanballat and Tobiah were, them, opposing. And when Messiah, his church was building, The Pharisees, likewise, him were opposing. But the enemy, God’s plans can’t defeat, Tho’ he tries with various means of deceit. God’s plans for his church will never fail. Against his enemies he’ll always prevail. So don’t ever give up hope— Tie a knot on the end of your rope; And hold on—as it were—to the very end. When you call, help to you, God will send. Byrum C. Lee 06/2011 “I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” --Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)

& emails DIAMONDS IN THE ROUGH

Email order from BRAZIL

I’ve seen some diamonds in my time, That sparkle with great flair. They’re worn with much expense and pride, And handled with great care. The beauty of the stone is held, In the crafter’s artful hands, With skilful eyes he calculates where, The hammer’s blow must land. As the diamond is divided, By the hammer’s fateful blow, Its value is increasing in a monetary flow.

I’ve seen some people in my time, Who are diamonds in the rough. Their lives hold great potential, For the things that are in the plus. But until the master craftsman, Has the freedom to remold— Their lives will lack the purpose, That He intended to unfold, It is when we in submission, Bow to the breaking that’s within, That the diamond really flashes, And becomes a special gem. From the Book: Gospel Cream (out of print) Poem (below) By Christian Triumph founders Rev. L.Y. and Mrs. Janes

Our God has promised to supply, And then a home in heaven give us If we are faithful till we die.

Yes: we triumph through Jehovah He’s our strength and He’s our all, We will trust Him and obey Him, By His grace we’ll never fall; He’s a friend in time of trouble, When in need He’s always near, O my brother, lean on Jesus, Then you need not have a fear.

Oh, how glorious then the meeting With the faithful that will be, Where we’ll meet our heavenly Father, Christ, and angels too we’ll see; Where there ne’er will be more parting, In our home we’ll ever dwell, But o’er sin we e’er must triumph; Sin would land your soul in hell. --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --Mrs. L.Y. Janes – Words from the past; yet “Right on time” for TODAY: Dear Fainting Child of His: Take heart, press on, fear not though God may seem about to fail you. Can a Mother forget her own child?

Worldly sorrows may encompass, Clouds may gather thick and fast, Yet, my brother, look to Jesus, Trust in Him unto the last. Often times He seems to tarry, But He never comes too late, E’er with safety we can trust Him, Hours and days upon Him wait.

“Yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget to keep thee!” is the promise of your loving Father. He is watching over you with infinite love and tenderness. He knows your heart and struggles. He suffers with you.

Many men have failed to trust Him, And with Peter sank in fear, But to those who lean upon Him, He has ever been real near. Now to us He’ll be a Father, If His sons indeed we are, Then through life we’ll go with safety He will then ne’er leave us far.

Yet He holds His delivering hand until the trying of your faith has wrought out His purpose in you. Then trust that hand of love which is ever stretched out for your good, and you will prove with all the faithful that God never fails.

Whether life or death may face us, We shall triumph by His power, Paul says, “We are more than conquerors” In days of trouble and trying hours; Then let us look alone to Jesus And trust in Him as men of old, Then we shall have the best protection, As sheep have only in His fold.

Editor: Thank you for reading the Faith Messenger, and may God bless each of you for this kindness. Please remember Christian Triumph in prayer as this evangelistic and church ministry continues to reach out to others. The future of this beloved work, founded many years ago by Rev. and Mrs. L.Y. Janes is in God’s hands. In Donna Schillinger’s book, On My Own Now, she writes about the future of us all: We can get bogged down in the signs and prophecies about the end of time as we know it, but we needn’t do that. It’s enough to accept that every single movement, even on the molecular level, is happening as God allows. No wisdom, no insight, no plan can counter God. www.OnMyOwnNow.com THANK YOU!

He never fails to see the needy; His ears are open to their cries, But we must always look to Jesus For here the victor’s secret lies; Our Master tells us of the lilies And how the sparrows each He feeds, He also says, “Be trusting children And I will see to all your needs; Your shelter, food and needed raiment, 7
