Letter From LTG-

You guys already know who it is!! I wanted to take this time to thank Cy-Ranch Key Club, Mayde Creek Key Club, Spring Woods Key Club, and Cinco Ranch Key Club for inviting me to their events. I always look forward to meeting dedicated Key Club members all around our Division, and I love making friends with you all! As we begin getting ready to kick back and relax during the summer, remember that service never ends! You guys have done a phenomenal job and deserve a break, but don’t break from Key Club. Keep coming out to service events and hopefully many socials, and officers- you have jobs that you’re still responsible for! Plan socials and keep up with Monthly Reporting, or even try going for an interclub event. Summer is a great time to get ahead and use the extra time to your advantage. It’s also a great time to come talk to yours truly! I’ll always be there in case you guys want to talk or need advice. Best of luck and enjoy yourselves! Yours in service, Christina Lee

A Month in Recap

Building Up RootsSpring Woods Key Club! For those who don’t know, Spring Woods Key Club is currently in the process of reactivating their Key Club! Led by Amanda Lee and Joel Melendez, two seniors, the prospective club recently held a clean up and gardening event at their high school. Though it was a humid morning, I had so much fun with these enthusiastic servant leaders and gained a stronger appreciation for our environment and how rewarding taking care of it can be. Great work and welcome back, Spring Woods!

May DCM Recap On May 28th at the meeting room at the Katherine Tyra Library, I had a great time hosting the first DCM for this term! We mostly covered the in and outs of being an officer for a local Key Club. Thank you to Nasa Xu, Asha Raghu, and Sophia Lee, for helping me share some experiences that only previous officers would be able to contribute. Shoutout to all those who came from CyRanch, Cy-Springs, Stratford, Cinco Ranch, Mayde Creek, and James Taylor, for listening to me for two hours straight! If you would like the agenda or any resources from the DCM, you know where to find me!

Message from the Governor

Hey Y’all! My name is Dianna Cardenas and I am honored to serve as the new Governor for the amazing Texas-Oklahoma District whose motto is “Whatever it takes!” I am aware of the hard work and dedication this position entails and I am more than willing to go above and beyond. I want to be able to prove to you that I am worthy of your trust and be an amazing servant leader with you all! My three main goals for this year, are to grow our membership by reactivating suspended clubs, do my best to visit every region, and build unity between the k-family by encouraging inter-clubs. All of this is possible if each one of us (320 clubs, and about 19,300 members) puts our piece of the puzzle. My Governors Project this year, will focus on helping the American Cancer society. Cancer is the second leading cause of death in the US, and affects many of us either directly or indirectly. With knowing many people who have been affected by cancer in many ways including myself, I have chosen this as my Governor’s Project. Words will never be able to explain how much I owe to the Kiwanis Organization and Key Club. Being a part of these two amazing organizations has helped me become the person I am today. From being on board as the Lieutenant Governor for Division 5 my freshmensophomore year, I knew being a part of Key Club was set in my path. I cannot wait to see all the experiences this year has in store for us! I am currently a junior at the Judson Early College Academy and originally from Los Angeles, California. When I’m not volunteering, I spend my time playing soccer, dancing, or at my parish. I would like to thank everyone for supporting me and once again would like to say how honored I am to be serving you as your 2016-2017 Texas-Oklahoma District Governor! Yours in Service, Dianna Cardenas

Divisional Project Part 1: Taking a Bite out of Hunger

Alarmingly, hunger is still an issue that threatens nearly 1 in every 5 households in Texas alone. Just because it doesn’t happen to your family does not mean that somewhere, someone is thinking and worrying about where their next meal will come from. As dedicated and caring servant leaders, we have the ability to help combat hunger!

We will take action through food drives and a Interdivisional Food Bank visit! Stay tuned for updates! 12
