Letter From LTGHey Sharks, it’s cold outside…

Can you believe that first semester is already almost over? Finals are literally right around the corner and it just seemed like yesterday we were starting the year. Not only does this mean that Christmas and a well-deserved Winter Break are on the way, it means that 2016 is also almost over. You guys have done a stellar job at serving your communities, so let’s make some great serviceoriented resolutions to keep up the great work for next year! While you’re on break, please begin thinking about your plans for the next school year as well. As you all know, one of the biggest events for Key Clubbers is our District Convention, and you can never plan too ahead for that! Please start thinking about fundraising and costs ahead of time, and coordinate with me or nearby schools if you are having trouble getting rides or chaperons. With DCON also comes elections for next year’s District Board. I highly suggest that all of my underclassmen and juniors consider getting involved with Key Club on a more intimate level and experiencing a Division Election Conference. Each and every one of you has thoroughly proved that you can rise to the position of servant leader without hesitation, and I know that so many of you will embrace and can handle the immense responsibility of being on the District Board. Just some food for thought. Until January, my dear Sharks!! Yours in service, Christina Lee

Divisional Project: Taking A Bite out of Hunger– Finale! Thank you all SO MUCH for coming out to the Divisional Project, Taking a Bite out of Hunger, all the way out at the Houston Food Bank bright and early the Saturday before we returned to school from break. I know it was very hard and a far drive, but I honestly enjoyed volunteering alongside you all so, so much. I can think of no better way to serve my community than alongside some of my favorite servant leaders!! As those who volunteered in the Community Room heard, we successfully helped the Houston Food Bank box over 2,880 meal boxes in just three hours, to be distributed to hungry families around 18 different counties! Great, great job! It is a humbling thought that even on Thanksgiving Break, there are people who can not enjoy the same luxuries and comforts that we can, let alone basic necessities like a warm meal. Thank you all for making that much of a difference in a family’s life this weekend. Though we only spent three hours giving it our all, it will undoubtedly brighten the day, week, or even the life of someone out there! I personally enjoy volunteering at the Houston Food Bank because of its friendly climate and great organization. Please consider scheduling a club visit there– and when you do, call me!!

DCON 2017 : HOUSE CREST CONTEST You all know how our DCON theme this year is the Wizarding World of Service? Get hyped for DCON 2017 with the House Crest Contest!! You all will be able to contribute to District Convention 2017 by creating and designing the official house crests used at convention. Use your creative ability to design four creative, unique, and professional looking house crests that will be used throughout convention and to represent the houses that attendees will be ‘sorted’ into. We will be using these houses and competing against each other at DCON to win House Points!! Requirements and regulations: The application form (found on tokeyclub.com) and (4) designs are due no later than January 5th, 2017 at 12:00 PM CST . If you have any questions, feel free to email Convention Liaison, Chris Do, at CL@tokeyclub.com. In order to properly submit the house crest designs to Convention Liaison, Chris Do, please submit your designs to ‘CL@tokeyclub.com’ in ‘PNG’ format that include four separate files for each crest design with transparent background. The size dimensions of these designs should be limited to ’20×20′ inches. Please be aware that these designs should reflect your cognitive ability to be creative and unique BUT crest designs MUST incorporate a shield outline/design into the house as well. As a suggestion, you may stick with ‘traditional’ colors and aspects of the original house crests, but overall these designs should be creative and done with whatever comes to mind.

Confused? Here’s something you might find familiar!! ** Do not COPY these designs. They are only for inspiration! **

Have You Updated Your COCI? Q: What is COCI?

A: COCI is the acronym for “Club Officer Contact Information”, which is the place on tokeyclub.com where we can keep up with your officer team!

Q: Why should I update it?

A: Firstly, it gives you points if you record it on your Monthly Report, though this can only be counted once! It also provides us a way to contact you.

Q: How do I update my COCI?

A: Log into your tokeyclub.com account by clicking “Login” at the top right. Your username should be the full name of your high school, but click “Members Only” and scan the list until you see your school name. Copy and paste that into the “Username” blank and then enter your correct password- which, you can reset, only if you have access to the email account in which your school registered with. Once logged in, go to the “Members Only” button and click “Update Club Officers”.

Q: How can I tell if I’ve updated my COCI?

A: You should be able to see the updated information once you log into tokeyclub.com. If you aren’t sure, email me and I can check for you!

Q: What if I can’t access my COCI?

A: Please contact me or our District Administrator (administrator@tokeyclub.com) and we will try to get the problem fixed ASAP.

Q: Are all officer positions on COCI?

A: No, not all officer positions are on COCI- but you must fill out the ones on the site. If you have more than one officer for the same position (for example, you have two secretaries), you only have to fill the appropriate information for one person.
