Tricky Test Bases on Romans 3:21-15 "I am so ready for today!" Kenny rushed into his classroom. "Bring on the tests!" His teacher, Mr. Gibson, laughed. "Wow. You look more excited than most of the class." "That's because I'm going to ace these tests. I went to bed early, ate eggs and bacon for breakfast, have plenty of number two pencils, and studied all weekend." Mr. Gibson looked confused. "Studied? How can you study for achievement tests?" "I reviewed everything we learned this year," Kenny explained. "I looked over fractions, American history, and all the parts of speech. I know this stuff." "But that's not how standardized tests work, Kenny. You actually can't study for them, and no one gets all the questions right. These tests are to show the teachers how well you're learning."

"Really?" Kenny thought about this. "If you can't ace these tests, what's the point in trying on them?" "Actually, achievement tests are a little like our lives as Christians We can never be perfect; only Jesus was perfect. Through His perfect life, death, and resurrection, we receive life and salvation. "You need to do the best possible job on the test. In the same way, as a response to Christ's work on our behalf, we try to live the best possible life, trusting Jesus to save us from our sins." "Huh. That actually makes sense." Kenny pulled out a pencil. "Now bring on the tests. I'm ready." By Christina Hergenrader Taken from My Devotions, Spring 2016 Copyright 2016, Concordia Publishing House , 3558 S.
