Verse of the Week: Hebrews 12:1-2 (in the picture above) Saints, see the cloud of witnesses surround us; Their lives of faith encourage and astound us. Hear how the Master praised their faith so fervent: “Well done, My servant!” Come, let us fix our sight on Christ who suffered, He faced the cross, His sinless life He offered; He scorned the shame, He died, our death enduring, Our hope securing. Lord, give us faith to walk where You are sending, On paths unmarked, eyes blind as to their ending; Not knowing where we go, but that You lead us—With grace precede us. You, Jesus, You alone deserve all glory! Our lives unfold, embraced within Your story; Past, present, future—You, the same forever—You fail us never! (LSB 667)
Announcements 2016 Sunday School Registration: Sunday school registration forms for this year are located on the bulletin board next to the fellowship hall. The first day of Sunday school will be September 11th, 2016.
Preschool Registration for the 2016-2017 academic year is open, for returning families and families of Christ Lutheran Church. Please see the Church website for a description and cost of the classes. “Lead Like JESUS BIBLE Study UPDATES” are available every-other week on the church website. Pastor will post a brief synopsis of the lesson for anyone who could not attend. The updates are located under the Adult Education link within the Worship tab on the website navigation bar. Our new church secretary is Rhoda Houge. She and her husband Claude moved to this area after he retired as a pastor in Omaha, NE. They are former LCMS missionaries in Africa (Liberia, Ghana, and Kenya) and even hosted Omot Ochan when he was in Nairobi on his way to Sudan several years ago. Rhoda has worked as a business manager, volunteer coordinator, and missionary communications manager overseas and has a background as an administrative assistant and teacher in the states. The Houges have two sons who are married, one living in St. Paul (with two daughters) and the other in Boston. Rhoda looks forward to meeting the members of Christ as we work together to share God’s love in Eagan and beyond.
Upcoming Meetings and Events The "Lead Like Jesus" study will continue every Sunday morning. Through this study, we will hopefully experience Jesus in a new and different way, as we grow to trust and follow Him and as we seek to come together and lead others to the Cross. To provide some flexibility to your summer schedule the 1st and 2nd Sundays of each month will be the same lesson, as well as the 3rd and 4th Sundays. It is my prayer and desire that "Lead Like Jesus" will be the beginning of a new and exciting chapter in our journey to becoming effective servant leaders as we gather together to be fed and strengthened through God's Word and teachings. Community Blood Drive: On Thursday, September 8th, Christ Lutheran Church will be sponsoring a Red Cross blood drive from 12:00-5:00 pm. To schedule appointments please call 1-800-REDCROSS (800-733-2767) or register online at www.redcrossblood.org and enter sponsor code: Christ Luth Church. There is also a sign-up sheet in the narthex. Rally day: Please join us on Sunday, September 11, at 11:15 for a picnic lunch and games to kick off the Sunday School and Bible Class year. Hot dogs and chips will be provided. If possible, please bring a dessert to share. This fun event is for all of the congregation. See you there!

Another look at the Verse of the Day: 1. By whom are we surrounded? 2. What should we lay aside? 3. What clings to us so closely? 4. What should we run with endurance? 5. Who is the founder and perfecter of our faith? 6. What did Jesus endure? 7. What did Jesus despise? 8. Where is He seated?
