Verse of the Week: Matthew 11:28
I heard the voice of Jesus say, “Come unto Me and rest; Lay down, thou weary one, lay down Thy head upon My breast.” I came to Jesus as I was, So weary, worn, and sad; I found in Him a resting place, And He has made me glad. I heard the voice of Jesus say, “Behold, I freely give The living water; thirsty one, Stoop down and drink and live.” I came to Jesus, and I drank Of that life-giving stream; My thirst was quenched, my soul revived, And now I live in Him. I heard the voice of Jesus say, “I am this dark world’s light. Look unto Me; thy morn shall rise And all thy day be bright.” I looked to Jesus, and I found In Him my star, my sun; And in that light of life I’ll walk Till trav’ling days are done. New Preschool Director/Teacher! Mrs. Wendy Ewald has accepted the position of Christ Lutheran’s Preschool Director/Teacher for the coming year. We thank the Lord for providing such a well-qualified person to work together with the members of Christ to reach out to those around us. Here is a note from her and information about her background:
Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! My name is Wendy Ewald, and I have been in Lutheran Education for 37 years, alternating between classroom teaching and starting and directing early childhood centers for churches in the Twin Cities area. My three brothers and I grew up in Cottage Grove, MN. I graduated from Concordia St. Paul in 1979 with my Lutheran Educator’s Degree and a B.A. in Elementary Education. I began my career at St. John Lutheran in Berlin, WI teaching third grade. This is where I met and married my husband Richard, and where we had our first 2 children. After 4 years, I took a job teaching preschool at a local childcare center for 5 years. In 1989 I took a call to Golden Valley Lutheran to start and direct their early childhood center. In 2000 I took a call to Bethlehem Lutheran in St. Paul to expand their preschool to include full day childcare and school age, and two years later I took a call to Mt. Calvary to teach second grade. When Mt. Calvary closed in 2009, I took a call to King of Kings in Roseville to start, direct, and teach their preschool program. In 2015 I took a call to clean up and direct Open Arms Christian Early Childhood Center. I fulfilled my role there, and after 1 year I wanted to be back in the classroom, so I took a one-year call to teach first grade at Trinity Lutheran in Mpls. Now I am delighted to be at Christ Lutheran Church and Preschool! I love being in the classroom and watching the children grow and develop in all areas: spiritually, emotionally, socially, physically, and intellectually. There is no other occupation that excites me the way teaching does and I am so blessed to be able to follow my dreams. My husband Richard and I live in Bloomington. We have 2 married daughters and one son. Our oldest daughter, Christine, and her husband have blessed us with 2 grandchildren that we adore and love to spend time with! Our youngest daughter, Brittany, and her husband are expecting their first child on July 17th and we can’t wait to meet this new grandchild! Our son, Tim, is a nurse and works at the V.A. hospital. Besides spending time with our kids and grandkids, I also enjoy spending time with my husband, gardening, walking, and reading during my free time. I look forward to getting to know the children and families of Christ Lutheran Preschool and the members of Christ Lutheran Church and have been earnestly praying that God will use me to be a blessing this year. To Him be the glory!
Report on Macedonia Trip On August 6 during the fellowship hour after church, Hannah Hartog is going to report on her Habitat for Humanity trip to Macedonia this summer. Be sure to come and hear about her amazing experience!
Cottage Meetings at CLC As part of the Christ Lutheran Church Reconciliation Effort, the church will be providing Cottage Meetings. These meetings are to focus upon healing broken relationships, both our relationship with God and our relationship with others. These meeting allow members of the church to get to know each other better, talk and listen to each other and, if in a broken relationship, work toward reconciling with each other, and do a little dreaming together as we move toward a preferred future in the church. These meeting are best done in small groups of 10-12 people. For the sake of order and to stimulate open and honest discussions, Pastor Hahn and one or two Elders will be present. These meeting will take place on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month until August 27th at 10:30 am. Please sign up for the date that best works with you. There are sheets on the red bulletin board in the narthex. Summer Cottage Meetings, Sundays at 10:30am July 9th & 23rd August 13th & 27th
