Verse of the Week: Romans 6:23
My faith looks up to Thee, Thou Lamb of Calvary, Savior divine. Now hear me while I pray; Take all my guilt away; O let me from this day Be wholly Thine! May Thy rich grace impart Strength to my fainting heart; My zeal inspire! As Thou hast died for me, Oh, may my love to Thee Pure, warm, and changeless be, A living fire! While life’s dark maze I tread And griefs around me spread, Be Thou my guide; Bid darkness turn to day, Wipe sorrow’s tears away, Nor let me ever stray From Thee aside. When ends life’s transient dream, When death’s cold, sullen stream Shall o’er me roll, Blest Savior, then, in love, Fear and distrust remove; O bear me safe above, A ransomed soul! God’s Blessings on Pastor Heggen’s Retirement! This Sunday, June 25, after church, there will be a special reception for Pastor Heggen who is retiring after faithfully serving as CLC’s Visitation Pastor for 7 years. We thank God for all that Pastor Heggen has done for Christ Lutheran and wish him God’s blessings in the future!
PRESENTATION OF THE AUGSBURG CONFESSION - June 25, 1530 While today will slip by for many Lutherans without the fanfare of Reformation Day, June 25 marks the day in 1530 on which God-fearing laymen took their stand for the Gospel and presented their confession of faith before Emperor Charles V at the Diet of Augsburg. You might even call today the birthday of the Lutheran Church! That confession made 487 years ago continues to shape what we believe, teach, and confess before the world today. Centered on Christ and focused on the free gift of salvation that is ours by grace through faith, the Augsburg Confession reminds us of the high privilege it is to confess Jesus Christ. The Augsburg Confession was written largely by Philipp Melanchton, a German reformer and collaborator with Martin Luther. In the years after 1530 Melanchton made significant changes that weakened the truth of the Augsburg Confession, especially in the teaching on the Lord's Supper. When the Lutheran confessions (i.e. statements of faith) were collected in the Book of Concord in 1580, the Unaltered Augsburg Confession was included as the principle Lutheran confession. (Thank you, Pastor Heggen, for noting this special day!)

Cottage Meetings at CLC As part of the Christ Lutheran Church Reconciliation (healing broken relationships) Effort the church will be providing Cottage Meetings. These meetings are to focus upon healing broken relationships, both our relationship with God and our relationship with others. These meeting allow members of the church to get to know each other better, talk and listen to each other and, if in a broken relationship, work toward reconciling with each other, and do a little dreaming together as we move toward a preferred future in the church. These meeting are best done in small groups of 10-12 people. For the sake of order and to stimulate open and honest discussions, Pastor Hahn and one or two Elders will be present. These meeting will take place on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month beginning June 11th and continuing until August 27th at 10:30 am. That is a total of 6 scheduled Cottage Meetings. Please sign up for the date that best works with you. There are sheets on the red bulletin board in the narthex.
