Christ Lutheran Church and Preschool 1930 Diffley Road Eagan, MN 55122 Church: 651-454-4091 christlutheraneagan@outlook.com www.christlutheraneagan.org Christ Lutheran Church is a congregation of The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod

Christ Lutheran Church is a growing body of believers in Jesus Christ, sharing the love, word, and grace of God with our family, community, and world.

At The Crossroads Join us for "At the Crossroads," a special series of services for the season of Lent. Each Wednesday evening service in the series reveals in some way how Christ and His cross lead us to the path of God’s will in our many crossroads in life. In the Ash Wednesday service (March 1) the psalmist David reaches the crossroads of confession and confesses his sins to the Lord. We are called to confess our sins to the Son of David and find forgiveness in Him. The service includes an Imposition of Ashes, readings from Scripture, a children’s sermon, a sermon dialog with David, Holy Communion, and hymns that help us to see the direction we must take at the crossroads of confession. In Week One (March 8) Judas Iscariot comes to the point where he must either listen to Jesus or listen to the devil, and he chooses to betray Jesus. When we are tempted by Satan to betray our Lord, we gain strength from our Savior to say, “No” to the devil. The service helps us avoid the crossroads of betrayal. In Week Two (March 15) Pontius Pilate is called upon by the crowds to make a judgment call about Jesus, and his decision not to decide results in the death of Christ. We look to the cross of Christ as we make definitive judgment calls in our lives. The service helps us come to the crossroads of judgment ready to be guided by divine wisdom. In Week Three (March 22) Jesus is taken into custody and He chooses to show compassion to Malchus, a wounded participant in the arrest. We are called to show compassion, not anger, even to those in our midst whom we might consider our enemies. The service helps us to come to the crossroads of compassion ready to love others as Christ loved us. In Week Four (March 29) Peter is asked to declare whether or not he knows Jesus and he decides to deny his Savior. When questioned about our Lord, we are called to boldly declare our faith in Christ. The service helps us to come to the crossroads of declaration ready to announce our allegiance to the Lord. In Week Five (April 5) John tells us about Jesus, as He nears the time when He must die for our sins and He asks His Father if the cup might pass from Him. But when the time comes, He obeys His Father’s will. When we are called upon to follow God’s will, we must obey. The service helps us to come to the crossroads of obedience ready to follow God’s plan for us wholeheartedly.

Pastor's Sunday Morning Bible Study - 10:30-11:15 "7 Christian Rules That Every Christian Ought To Break As Often As Possible" Based on the Book written by Jonathan Fisk 1. Never follow a rule that follows your liver, your heart, your pancreas, or any other bodily organ that could conceivably have its mind changed by the shifting of the wind. 2. Never follow a rule that wasn't written in stone a very, very long time ago (doubly so if the grass is always greener on the other side because it's made of plastic). 3. Never follow a rule because it makes sense (especially if it promises to work because it makes sense [and especially, especially if it either contains the words "spirit-led" or can be entirely explained by a petri dish full of midi-chlorians]). 4. Never follow a rule because it benefits you now (and if it mentions "abundance," run screaming from the room). 5. Never follow a rule that has to start over (again and again... and again...) again. 6. Never follow a rule that doesn't like rules. 7. Never follow a rule in order to justify yourself. Seriously.

We are excited to have staff from Camp Omega lead our VBS again this year. The dates are July 10-14, and it will be all day except on Friday when we are done at Noon. Here is what we as a congregation can do to help:    

Pray that once again we will reach children in our community and in our congregation with the good news of Jesus throughout this week. Pray for the Camp Omega staff and CLC volunteers. Volunteer during this week. We need volunteers to help in the classroom, with art, with registration, preparation of snacks, and hosting the Camp staff. Invite children to register for this week.

Stay tuned for more information including cost, registration forms, theme etc. Joyce Swedean, VBS Director

You can join the choir now to be part of the Easter Cantata, which will be presented on April 8th. Practice is on Wednesday evenings right after church during Lent. It’s a pretty harmonious group!

Interested in joining the Handbell Choir? Practice is on Thursday evenings at 7:00. If you have questions, contact Sharon Momanyi (sharonjmomanyi@gmail.com).

ST. PATRICK’S BREASTPLATE I arise today Through a mighty strength, the invocation of the Trinity, Through belief in the Threeness, Through confession of the Oneness of the Creator of creation. I arise today Through the strength Through the strength Through the strength Through the strength

of of of of

Christ’s birth with His baptism, His crucifixion with His burial, His resurrection with His ascension, His descent for the judgment of doom.

I arise today, through God’s strength to pilot me, God’s might to uphold me, God’s wisdom to guide me, God’s eye to look before me, God’s ear to hear me, God’s word to speak for me, God’s hand to guard me, God’s shield to protect me, God’s host to save me From snares of devils, From temptation of vices, From everyone who shall wish me ill, afar and near. Christ Christ Christ Christ Christ Christ Christ Christ Christ Christ

with me, Christ before me, behind me, Christ in me, beneath me, Christ above me, on my right, Christ on my left, when I lie down, Christ when I sit down, when I arise, in the heart of every man who thinks of me, in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me, in every eye that sees me, in every ear that hears me.

I arise today Through a mighty strength, the invocation of the Trinity, Through belief in the Threeness, Through confession of the Oneness of the Creator of creation.

(Attributed to St. Patrick who brought Christianity to Ireland in the 5th Century.)
