CompleteMusicUpdate.com reports: As previously reported, the CRB ruling was big news in the US, though most headlines centred on what it meant for Pandora, which has traditionally utilised the compulsory sound recordings licence that exists under US copyright law for online radio services, including personalised radio set-ups.

Live365, which launched way back in 1999, provides a platform for bedroom, smallscale and community broadcasters based in the US via which they can webcast. It not only provides the webcasting technology for its broadcasting customers, but also music licences, which it sorts out via the music publishing sector’s collecting societies and, for recordings, under the SoundExchange licence. Shortly after the CRB ruling, the company laid off staff and left its offices, explaining that: “The absence of the [smallscale broadcaster] licence will make legally streaming copyrighted musical content prohibitively expensive for many small to mid-sized internet broadcasters. BOMB IN NEW YORK ANTI-BEYONCE PROTEST IN NEW YORK BOMBED
www.tha1radio.com
According to “A.V. club” A planned protest of Beyonce‘s Super Bowl halftime Black Lives Matter stunt fizzled Tuesday morning.Only a handful of protesters showed up to demonstrate against Beyonce outside NFL headquarters in New York City. National media outlets noted there were more reporters and TV cameras at the protest than protesters. One protestor even held up a sign that read: “WHERE Y’ALL AT?”After milling about and posing for the photographers, the disorganized band of demonstrators discarded their handmade signs and went their separate ways. Maybe the cold weather was to blame or the threat of violence? The absence of protesters at the anti-Beyonce
protest lead some in the media to speculate that the whole thing was a publicity stunt to promote Beyonce’s album, Formation, and her upcoming Formation Tour. The Daily Beast was one of those skeptical media outlets who questioned the authenticity of the Boycott Beyonce movement — only to discover there is no “movement” or group at all. YOU’RE LOSING MONEY. BIT BY BIT
D
igital royalties are fees that digital radio services, such as Pandora, SiriusXM , webcasters and cable TV music channels are required by law to pay for streaming music. These royalties are paid by the services to SoundExchange, and accompanied with playlists of all the recordings played by the service provider. It is our role to take these payments, allocate the fees to the recordings according to how often each song was played, and then pay the featured artist(s) and copyright owners of those recordings. More than 110,000 artists and rights owner accounts are registered with SoundExchange. We have paid out nearly $3 billion in royalties since our first distribution. How Royalties are Divided Under the law, 45 percent of performance royalties are paid directly to the featured artists on a recording, and 5 percent are paid to a fund for non-featured artists, typically session musicians and background singers. The other 50 percent of the performance royalties are paid to the owner of the sound recording (i.e., the owner of the “master”), which can be a
record label or an artist who owns their own masters.

URBAN RENEWAL OR GENTRIFICATION by Loli Yam

an Antonio is the new frontier for business, family and commerce. In just 4 years over 100,000 new residents have moved into SA and the surrounding areas and more residential complexes are popping up all over the city. This influx of people brings new money as well as new possibility to our wonderful city, but, at what price. Many cities in the US have under gone gentrification which commonly results in the displacement of low income residents and small mom and pop businesses that stood strong many years before the changes arrived. Investors with new found interest in neighborhoods that are centrally located or near up and coming metropolitan areas seems to be much more than just a trend. an Antonio is the 7th largest city in America. Like most large urban cities, certain areas of town are showing their age. One only has to drive down the high traffic streets and the back alleys of San Antonio’s East and South sides to see abandoned buildings, dilapidated porches, roofs and poorly manicured lawns. Yet all is not doom and gloom. Quite often adjacent to those heavy hearted homes are neighbors who display with pride their highly cultivated flower gardens or a bright new coat of paint their home has received. Several neighborhoods sport backyard swimming pools, patios and sturdy carports. These are working class neighborhoods. They are not rich, nor do they pretend to be. They live in the homes that have witnessed the cities spectacular growth and expansion….North and Northwest ward. Yes, some of our oldest neighborhoods have been left behind. pothole repairs or adequate street lighting or the immediate removal of trash and debris on its streets or vacant lots. It seems that now the City of San Antonio wants to make amends. They want to extend the hand of modernity to all of its residents. They call it Urban Renewal. Some people call it gentrification. “YET ALL IS NOT DOOM AND GLOOM” I think urban renewal is a great thing for the east side. It is an area of town that has been looked over for far too long. I believe it is an opportunity for those that have not known the value of the property they hold. This is also going to be a great opportunity for individuals that are looking to take advantage of the new growth and development change. It is inevitable and right now, it is time for change. We need to take a look at what is happening in the larger urban cities around the country and it will give you an idea of what is possibly possible.
You operate a Construction Management company ,what would you advise the people in those areas to do so that the “urban renewal” would be beneficial for them? Individuals need to make sure that they’re keeping up with their taxes as well as to reinvest into their properties as far as facade improvements, landscaping ,decorative fencing etc .. so they can take advantage of the opportunities that are going to come along with the growth. The baby boomer generation has not done enough of a good job in respect to maintaining these properties that have
www.soberwater.net soberwater@gmail.com
been left to them, neither have the grandkids of the parents that have gone before them reinvested into these properties. Specifically addressing the East and South Side areas of San Antonio, the question now becomes is this really Urban renewal or gentrification, meaning will these new buildings be out of reach financially for the people that originally reside in those areas?
The better question is what have the people that have lived there done to make sure that Urban Renewal doesn’t come in. I think that our generation need to make sure that we do better than the last generation and take care of what has been left to us. Speaking of the financial burden of urban renewal, as far as I know they’re measurements put in place to make sure that individual taxes are frozen if they’ve lived in a certain area for a certain amount of time.

Marlin said, “TYFA was the best move, they are a more diverse league and being a business owner the travel would have been problematic and he wanted to show love to TYFA since he’s been with the league since 2009.” For me knowing the difference in the teams is easy, but for someone who doesn’t know the difference in the San Antonio Outlaws and the New 210 Outlaws how could they tell you guys apart? It seemed to be a question that was waiting to be asked as well as one that needed to be answered, Marlin then said, “ First, is the league, one is Snoop Youth Football League and the other is Texas Youth Football Association. Secondly, is all the things that we as an organization are prepared to do off the field. We can assist the children, if a kid doesn’t have money for football shoes no matter what team they play for we can help with purchasing a pair. Lastly any parent can request at any time to see financial statements to see what we are using the monies for, and how they are spent because we are a non-profit organization.” In bringing the Outlaws back to TYFA the biggest
hurdle in restarting an organization would be trying to retain previous members and bring in new participants. The 210 Outlaws definitely have a lot to offer and they also believe in it takes a village to raise a kid, they attribute a lot of their success from parental support and the parents allowing them to be a part of all phases in the kids’ lives. They offer daily mentoring, because things happen every day. They want to work with the kids even after they age out of TYFA at age 13. This includes assisting in High School and even college as far as books are concerned or even stocking the kids refrigerator in his or her dorm. They want to step out into other sports as well through their non-profit organization Youth on FIRE, with the acronym for FIRE being Fully Initiating Realistic Expectations by means of Faith, Intelligence, Respect & Education. This kind of brings a new meaning to the phrase keeping it Hood. One Love

ince 1958, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) has awarded platinum and gold certifications based on the quantity of albums sold by an artist. One million sold copies meant a record was platinum; half a million meant gold. Today, the RIAA announced a change in that methodology. Now, it will count on-demand audio and video streaming, along with the traditional album sales, in determining whether a record is platinum or gold. One stream doesn't equal one sale, however. Instead, 1,500 on-demand audio or video streams will amount to one album sale. (On-demand
streaming refers to the ability to choose what song you're listening to—services like Spotify and Apple Music, not internet radio sites like Pandora.) The RIAA's announcement didn't mention how these 1,500 streams will be tallied up—for example, whether one stream of a 17-song album will count the same as 17 streams of a single taken from the album. Cary Sherman, CEO and chairman of the RIAA, spoke about the shift in a statement: For nearly six decades, whether it’s vinyl, CDs, downloads or now streams, the Gold & Platinum Program has adapted to recognize the benchmarks

As long as I am a DJ I’m dedicated to standing behind Hip-Hop and its origins. Because no matter what life is Hip-Hop and I am ALIVE! Not promote it or anything but understand that bad things and people can create a good situation.
