追忆先人 - 缅怀李日昌先生 － 伟大的父亲，丈夫和学者

Born in Malaysia and educated in Malaysia and Taiwan, Dad was very much an embodiment of the Confucian virtues – benevolence, righteousness, courteousness, scholarship, integrity, loyalty, and fi lial piety. In his practice, our father built a close-knit family.

Dad was caring and soft-spoken gentleman – often over-anxious for the welfare of his children, while also stern when we were little, guiding us unerringly towards the right path. In his professional life in Australia, Dad has helped countless others as a medical interpreter to the sick and needy. As one of the forefathers of medical interpreters for the Asian community in Perth, my dad was quite a well-recognised face here.

Over the years, Dad has cultivated many friendships, with his kindness, loyalty, generosity and sincerity. Bringing up a young family in a new and unfamiliar environment was not easy, but he was reassured that these sacrifi ces had come to fruition when we saw how proud Dad was at our respective graduations, cheering us on with each new task we took on as adults, beaming with happiness at our weddings, turning recently to his transformation as a doting grandfather. Dad’s fi nest quality was his integrity, his punctuality, and unassuming vast grasp and knowledge of the Chinese language as a poet. He also voluntarily wrote enlightening and thoughtful articles for the local Chinese papers, off ering his wisdom to guide others.

We remember him as a kind, loving, diligent, thoughtful, patient and intelligent father, who spared no eff orts in caring for his family all through his life. Our father’s legacy are the ideals instilled in us – being kind to others, live a righteous life, and contribute to the welfare of the society – ideals that we will continue to take forward in his memory.

To our dad, Yit Chang Lee, we will remember you forever. A loving father, husband, scholar and true gentleman.

To the world, my dad may be just one person, but to one family, he was the world.

He loves my mum and they really epitomised the notion of a lifelong partnership. 父亲出生在马来西亚。从小就勤奋向 上，努力不懈，对自己的要求很高。父亲毕 业于台湾政治大学中文系, 所以他一生的原 则是孔子的“孝”、“悌”、“忠”、“信”、“ 礼”、“义”、“廉”、“耻”，并且将这些价值 观建立在“家”的中心。

父亲是位处处为他人着想的君子儒士。 作为父亲他事事都为我们操心，从小对我们 严厉苛刻，希望我们能踏上人生正道。在澳 洲父亲是一位专业资深的通译、翻译员。从 事翻译行业已久，父亲在珀斯华人圈子里也 令人可敬。

父亲的善良、真诚、慷慨与诚恳，在澳 洲的这些年也交了许多朋友。在一个陌生的 环境养家糊口确实是很艰难的事。父母亲的 牺牲换来我们今天的成就。从我们的毕业 典礼，到结婚迈入人生重要旅程，到升级成 为爷爷，父亲脸上所流露出骄傲和满足的目 光都证实了这一切都是值得的。

父亲最让人钦佩的地方是他的真诚、守 时和博学。他的談吐、书写、思想和言行，就 如古代诗人。父亲喜欢写作。闲暇的他最喜 欢写写文章，分享他的感想和体验，然后通 过当地的中文报章表达。

父亲所有的优点，例如他善良的心, 人 生的智慧, 對家人体贴的关怀, 對我们细心 的照顾, 耐心的教悔, 我们心中永记。他用他 这一生奉献于他的家人，而我们作为儿女是 会永记父亲的教导－对人友善，为人正直， 舍己为人。他为人的原则和教训，与我们一 起的美好时光都会永远留在我们的心里。

在这世界，父亲或许只是个凡人，但在我 们心中，他是我们的全世界。他对母亲的爱， 世上无人可代之，也让我们了解到何为真爱！

A fi ttingly heartfelt tribute from my mum to my dad:

“With 45 years and 9 months together, both of us have now become one. Your caring and thoughtfulness transcend beyond words. I wish for us to continue this romance in our next life.”

母亲在父亲离去哀悼时说了下面的这段话：

“45年9个月的春夏秋冬，已把我俩融为 一体。你的柔情体贴，一切尽在不言中。 我只盼今生情缘，来世再续”

The 2018 Perth Chinese New Year Fair came to Northbridge on Sunday 18 February and Purslowe & Chipper Funerals was proud to support the occasion through its affi liation with the Chung Wah Association.

Cultural performances including the Lion Dance dazzled throughout the day. This year we celebrate “Year Of The Dog” and Purslowe & Chipper Funerals were pleased to be part of the 2018 Perth Chinese New Year Fair and to continue to support families throughout Perth.

The Lion Dance may be one of the most well-known events during the Lunar New Year, seen as bringing good luck and prosperity to the community. Chung Wah’s Lion Dance Troupe has a rich history dating back to the 1960’s and performing at International Competition and being ranked fi fth best troupe in the world. Stephen Kum is the Chairperson of the dance group and grew up with a passion for the performance.

The team will be now be looking forward to recognising the Ching Ming Festival which falls in the third lunar month of the Chinese calendar, which is usually in the fi rst week of April in the Gregorian calendar. The festival is very ancient, dating back in Chinese history around 2,500 years. The Ching Ming Festival, or Qingming, is a special day for the remembrance of ancestors.
