INFO PACK 2

Dear IJBC participants, IJBC is just a couple of weeks away and we hope you are all as excited about it as we are!

INTRODUCTION

With IJBC 2017, we want to really take into consideration everything that Junior Branch has achieved so far and recognised where we are coming from. We believe it is important to be proud of Junior Branch’s history and to learn from it to move forward with our organisation. IJBC 2017 is a great step in this movement forward. It will combine traditional aspects with bursts of innovation. IJBC 2017 will bring new ideas and keep what makes a great International Junior Branch event: inspiration, creativity and learning together. We want to explore the full potential of Junior Branch with you. And IJBC will offer this inspiring environment with a lot of opportunities for development and interaction with great JBers. IJBC and its international atmosphere is a great space for that and an event that we truly value. In this InfoPack, you will get to know some of the amazing people who are working with us to prepare this IJBC. There will also be opportunities for you to bring your diverse perspectives, ideas and dreams and to contribute to the development of the Conference. We are looking forward to making this IJBC an unforgettable event with you all! With love, Gaspard and Flora International Junior Representatives 2016-2017

MEET THE FACILITATORS

WHY IS IJBC IMPORTANT TO YOU? With the facilitation team, we want to get to know you and why IJBC is so important to you. Please send us a picture of you and a tweet to answer this question at ijbcplanners@ijb.cisv.org

GETTING READY

To explore the potential of IJBC, we challenge you to plan something that you want to bring home after this IJBC. It can be by yourself; with your Junior Branch; with your chapter/NA board; with a JBer from another country

Why coming to IJBC 2017 is important for you? How will you grow personally with IJBC 2017? What do you want to achieve after this IJBC? Think about something specific that IJBC can help you develop. It can be a project, an activity related to a specific theme, new ways of working, … It is important that you think about at least one thing that you expect to learn or develop at IJBC 2017. It’s important that you arrive in Lisbon with some ideas in mind, this way it will be easier for you to understand your expectations for IJBC 2017 as well as to better take in the different learnings you will experience and take home after the conference.

Everyday, there will be an hour in the schedule called the “Networking Break”. You can use this time to develop projects, get ideas from other JBers, to suggest some topics for discussion, or anything else that you want. It is important to get prepared to make sure you will take advantage of all the dedicated spaces that IJBC will offer!

THREADS IJBC 2017 will have plenty of sessions that will contribute to a unique experience. The topics are organized in 4 main threads, which are the themes that we want to explore this year.

Educational Content Peace Education is the essence of CISV. At IJBC we want to explore Human Rights and Diversity in a new light to incite more JB activities focused on educational content. In order to achieve that we will take a closer look at CISV’s educational approach and the idea of offering non-formal education to children and connecting back to children’s rights and our role in all this.

Creativity & Innovation Being creative is not as easy as it sounds, that’s why sometimes it is very hard to innovate when it comes to our role and responsibilities as well as creating new projects to develop our JB along with CISV. This thread seeks to provide tools that can take the issues we have in our organization but also in our community to develop projects using creativity and innovation in all stages of the process.

Leadership & Self-Development We often say that Junior Branch helps to develop leadership skills. But what does this

Vision & Strategy

mean exactly? Can we not all be leaders in our
