MAYC In-Person Programs on Pause Virtual and Curbside Options Ramp Up Since mid-March the City of Blaine’s emergency operations center has been operating to coordinate the city’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. All city programming and special events are vetted by emergency management staff. Last month new in-person programming was added at the Mary Ann Young Center. However, with the recent surge in both COVID-19 cases and the positivity rate the City of Blaine has decided to pause all in-person programming at this time. This decision will be re-evaluated as conditions change and as any new guidance is released by public health officials. The City of Blaine is committed to finding ways to continue to connect with the senior community. But in this current stage of the pandemic, public health guidance has led to this decision to pause inperson programming, except foot care services. As in-person programming takes a break, virtual options are ramping up. In the rest of the newsletter look for new and expanded virtual program offerings and some additional curbside pickup options. MAYC staff will continue to connect with Blaine seniors through phone calls and Zoom programs. If you want to get a call from the staff at MAYC make sure you are on the contact list. Join the MAYC contact list by calling 763-786-9375 or by filling out the form at BlaineMN.gov/MAYCContact.

Help stock the local food shelves. Non-perishable food items are needed, especially this year. The MAYC staff will meet you curbside wearing a mask, to collect donated non-perishable food items from 2-4PM on Monday, December 7. Drive under the canopy of the main entrance, put your passenger window down, wear a mask, and let staff know if your items are in the seat of the car or in the trunk. Stay in your vehicle. Just indicate where the items are located and staff will collect and place the items inside the MAYC. Santa will arrange a date to pick up the items and deliver them to local food shelves. Your help is much appreciated.

Help the MAYC Continue Top Notch Programming One of the wonderful things about programming at the MAYC is that people from all around the area, not just Blaine, can take part in the various offerings. This is for both our current virtual programs and our in-person programs when we can safely resume those events. Blaine residents already contribute towards MAYC programs through property taxes. We are asking non-Blaine residents to please consider sending in a $10 donation to help us continue to provide the current level of service to non-residents. Mail donations to: MAYC, 9150 Central Avene NE, Blaine MN 55434
