April is Volunteer Appreciation Month April is designated Volunteer Appreciation Month. The Mary Ann Young Center (MAYC) staff are grateful for the multitude of people who volunteer at MAYC. A variety of opportunities are filled with talented people who give generously of their time such as: bus drivers, luncheon servers, leaders for bingo, woodcarving, card groups, jewelry sale, book club, garden club, basket making, ukulele, program statistics compilation, sing-a-long, jamboree group, tech lab, and creative corner. MAYC staff also partner with many community leaders to bring quality educational programs to you at no cost. A rousing thank you to each and every one of you who help make MAYC programming successful. We could not do it without you! Two new drivers have been added to the pool in the past six months. Our volunteer bus drivers do a tremendous job and are very much appreciated by those who need transportation to get to and from MAYC. If you have a good driving record, are good at navigating around the City of Blaine, and are interested in becoming a volunteer driver, see MAYC staff for details. It would be nice to have a few more drivers on the list to fill in for vacations and appointments. Another volunteer opportunity that needs filling is health insurance counselors. Training is available by Trellis-Senior Linkage Line, to assist you in learning all that is needed to help others know what health insurance choices are available in this area, so that they can make informed decisions.
