Larry Farnham, Carving Artist
MAYC Diner Shares Carving Talents Made by Larry Farnham Larry is a regular diner at the Mary Ann Young Center and of late, has been bringing a different item nearly every day from a project he has completed over the years. His interest in carving began in 1980 when he cut three fingers on his left hand and his wife suggested it would be good therapy for his hand to take up carving to keep his hand flexible. Larry took her advice. He has made countless carvings over the years and took up collecting antiques and theme items as well. Some of his collections include antique toys, African American artifacts, Native American artifacts, pedal cars, and more. Larry can be described as a self-made entrepreneur, as he states he has always been in business for himself. He has given away over 100 homemade pieces, mostly of caricatures that have personal meaning to the recipient. He has also created larger items of about 48 inches in diameter and several feet tall, such as fully operational carnival rides including a carousel, Ferris wheel, and airplane ride. As you can see from the horse and buggy photo, his talent is varied and impressive. Thank you for sharing your projects at the MAYC Larry!
