Celebrate Valentine's Day with Wheel of Fortune Wednesday, February 14, 11am-1pm, $5 Wear festive attire and join staff for light refreshments, a rousing game of Wheel of Fortune with prizes, and a noon luncheon for just $5. Party snacks will be available starting at 11AM. Wheel of Fortune is fun and non-competitive as the game host has contestants take turns guessing letters and solving the puzzles. Using a large screen TV, participants will see a light up board showing the letters in the puzzle, as well as the used letter board. Puzzle categories will be prepared in advance and participants may guess up to two letters before being asked to solve the puzzle. At the discretion of the game host, if several people know the puzzle, they may be asked to solve the puzzle as a group, and each gets a prize. Register by February 8 to enjoy a delicious lunch of chicken Kiev or alternate breaded pollock wedge, scalloped potatoes, Italian blend vegetables, tropical fruit salad, garlic toast, and a strawberry cheesecake cup. Romance at the MAYC Shirley Engberg and Andy Schippel met at the MAYC about two and a half years ago at a pinochle card group. Andy was a seasoned player, and Shirley had joined the beginner group to learn the rules of play. Shirley has been a volunteer at the MAYC since about 2011 and enjoys peeling vegetables for big dinners. She coordinates getting the vegetables for the harvest dinner from a local producer. Andy enjoys playing a variety of card games and socializing while at the MAYC. Last September Andy invited Shirley to attend a Vikings football game at U.S. Bank Stadium. They soon began going out to dinner to get to know each other better. They shared their first kiss in the MAYC parking lot. In December Andy proposed and presented an engagement ring to Shirley during the MAYC holiday party. The couple shared a dance for their engagement while the entertainment was performing. When asked what each liked most about the other, Shirley replied, “how he treats his children; he is a strong family man, a sweet teddy bear”. Andy replied, “I like everything about her”. The happy couple has set the wedding date for this summer at Majestic Oaks! Congratulations and best wishes for a bright future together.
