Established in 1954
The Soil and Sunshine Garden Club was established in 1954 and has been active ever since. Meetings are held the second Monday of each month at 6:30PM at the Mary Ann Young Center (MAYC) during the months of September through May. At most meetings, a presenter is secured to typically speak on a variety of horticulture-based topics. In the summer months members go on scheduled outdoor tours. Each year, the club hosts a summer plant sale at 8712 Lincoln Street in Blaine. This year the plant sale will be held on May 17 and 18 from 9AM-6PM. This is the main fundraiser for the garden club, proceeds go toward a $1,000 scholarship to a U of M student through a selection process. The garden club is also involved in community projects like decorating and planting the flowerpots in front of Blaine City Hall and the MAYC. To learn more about gardening and have fun with some like-minded people, all are welcome to check out our club.
