MEET THE STAFF Wayne Carrels Recreation Crew Supervisor
who help “Make Life Fun” in Boynton Beach! Wayne joined our team in November of 2017. He attended the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in recreation management. Prior to working for the City, he owned and operated a gym in Springfield, Illinois where he was voted Best Personal Trainer four times. Wayne is a veteran, certified water ski instructor and Guinness World Record holder for waterskiing on his hands. He moved to South Florida to escape Midwestern winters and live a year-round active, outdoor lifestyle. Wayne serves the citizens of Boynton Beach by ensuring our parks and recreation centers are maintained with excellence. He enjoys having the ability to interact with residents and hear how much they love our parks and programs. Along with our Director, he has played an integral role in establishing and overseeing a pilot park ranger program. His favorite park is Jaycee Park for its location on the Intracoastal Waterway and the interactive Maritime Heritage Trail. When he’s not working, you can find Wayne waterskiing or spending time with his wife, Christine, and their two dogs.

Community support and engagement are key factors in bringing out the best in a city and its government. Volunteers have an opportunity for meaningful service to, and direct participation in, the operation of their city government. Volunteering gives you an opportunity to contribute your time, share your talents, have a lasting effect on the community, learn new skills, gain experience which may lead to employment opportunities, and form new friendships. View available opportunities and apply online at boynton-beach.org/join-our-team.
ADOPT-A-PARK
The City encourages civic groups to get involved in their community and will place a sign in the adopted park, crediting the organization for their assistance to promote this very special community partnership. The purpose of the program is to enlist the community’s involvement with maintenance within a park to ensure clean park environments for all to enjoy. Tasks can include trash pickup, graffiti reporting, weeding/raking playgrounds, sweeping shelters, cleaning picnic tables and mulching trees/shrubs. If your community group or business would like to get involved, please call Roz Rizzo at 561-742-6225.
