Welcome

Funfare Magazine • Summer 2018 Dear Friends and Neighbors,

D

id you know that May is National Water Safety and Drowning Prevention Month? As a coastal community, we are committed to water safety. Our department champions this cause at our beaches and pools and through our involvement with drowning prevention efforts. Summer brings the heat, making it the ideal time to cool off with a dip in the pool. Pledge to be a water watcher to keep everyone safe! Never leave children unattended, keep your eyes on the water, keep a phone nearby for emergency use and avoid distractions. These are simple steps that can save lives. Have you heard about our Town Square downtown redevelopment project? We are thrilled for the changes coming to Boynton Beach! With the Art and Civic Centers coming down to make way for the redevelopment project, some of your favorite recreation programs may be relocated. We ask that you bear with us as we navigate these changes throughout the construction phases. The historic Boynton Beach High School is currently undergoing renovations to become a Cultural Arts Center. Once completed, this Center will bring exciting new programs and events into downtown Boynton Beach. We can’t wait for what’s in store for our City and Department! To learn more about Town Square and follow the project updates, go online and visit our website at boynton-beach.org/town-square. Have a safe, fun summer. Don’t forget to #PlayonJuly out in our parks and to share your pictures with us on social media! Warm regards, Amy Blackman, CPRP Recreation Superintendent
