Creative Kid’s Writing Workshop: Write and Illustrate Your Own Children’s Book

Ages: 7 – 12 yrs. Registration Required Sat, Mar. 4 10 a.m.

Got stories you’re itching to share with the world? Work with local middle-grade novel author Christa Palm to create the text for an eight-page illustrated children’s book. In one session, you can get your book’s text down on paper. Next, illustrate your pages at home. Bring your finished book to the library, and we will display it for all readers! Eco-Artists’ Art Show

Ages: All Ages Registration Required Sat, Mar. 4 2 p.m.

Join in our Eco-Artists’ Art Show for the month of March! Participate in one of two ways: 1) Bring a recycled-goods art piece that you made at home to the library from March 1 – 5. OR 2) Join us in the program room on March 4 and use library art supplies to create your own masterpiece! Voila: you are an eco-artist!

Read Across America Celebration

Boredom Buster Day

Nothing to do during spring break? Come on down to the library to pick a special activity book. Choose from cool craft kits like paper airplanes, bath bombs, pom-pom critters, cross stitch, and more. You pick, you create!

Rhythm Drum Circle

LEGO® Relay Race (for Architecture Days)

Flex your creativity and stay active in this friendly competition. Each challenge will come with an additional relay race with a silly twist–maybe you’ll have to dance like a robot before you build a secret laboratory, or stagger like a zombie before you build a haunted house. Meet Author Varian Johnson

Ages: 8+ Registration Not Required T, Apr. 25 6 p.m.

Meet awarding-winning children’s book author Varian Johnson! Author visits are a wonderful and enriching experience for students and educators alike, and we’re excited to have author Varian Johnson visiting the library to share his life as a reader and writer. Varian is the author of several novels for children and young adults, including The Parker Inheritance, which won both the Coretta Scott King Author Honor and Boston Globe/Horn Book Honor awards; The Great Greene Heist, an ALA Notable Children’s book and Kirkus Reviews Best Book; and the graphic novel Twins, illustrated by Shannon Wright and many others.
