PROPOSED CHARTER AMENDMENTS Charter Amendment Election Propositions A - G
November 7, 2023
Forney Residents approved seven proposed charter amendments in the November 7th election. These amendments are for elected officials and include adding term limits, changing terms from 2 to 3 years, amending staggered terms, adding special elections for certain vacancies, changing signature limits on a recall petition, and changing the mayoral vote to a tie-breaking vote only. PUBLIC SAFETY FLEET TECHNOLOGY UPGRADES
Council approved a technology contract with Mobile Mounting Solutions, Inc. to install and service Cradlepoint routers for Police and Fire vehicles. The Cradlepoint router project will boost wireless stability in public safety vehicles to ensure reliable communication with first responders. In the face of the city's growth and connectivity challenges, these routers offer redundancy, automatically switching networks to maintain communication and data access for Public Safety and City resources.
FILM FRIENDLY TEXAS
City Council approved policy guidelines for the Forney’s Film Friendly Texas distinction. Film Friendly Texas is a program of the Texas Film Commission which operates under the governor's office. Achieving the Film Friendly designation will enhance Forney's exposure and showcase unique features to media industry professionals in Texas. Additionally, this designation establishes clear guidelines and policies for handling commercial production inquiries. MUNICIPAL COURTS WEEK
Mayor Roberson and the Forney City Council took a moment to honor and applaud our remarkable Municipal Court staff in celebration of Municipal Courts Week. These devoted individuals work tirelessly to uphold justice and maintain the law in our community. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to these dedicated individuals for their vital role in ensuring the smooth and just operation of our city!
