PLANET FITNESS SITE PLAN APPROVED

The City Council has approved a site plan for Planet Fitness, which will be situated southwest of the North F.M. 548 and Ridgecrest Road intersection. The 2.613-acre property, currently vacant and undeveloped, falls within the Hamblen Estates Planned Development. This Planned Development, approved by the City Council on December 18, 2001, permits all approved uses from the Neighborhood Service District within the General Retail District base zoning. Retail and restaurant uses are prevalent throughout the development, with indoor physical fitness facilities allowed as a permitted use.

MEET AND CONFER AGREEMENT

The City Council approved the Meet and Confer Agreement between the Forney Professional Fire Association and the City of Forney. This comprehensive agreement encompasses crucial aspects such as Association Business Leave, Compensation, Fire Marshal’s Office On-Call Pay, Fitness Incentive Program, Hiring/Recruitment, Promotional Process, Rank Structure, Sick Leave Payout, and Supplemental Pays. Notably, the agreement emphasizes the implementation of more competitive pay rates aligned with those of comparable agencies.

SAFER GRANT APPLICATION

The City Council has approved the Forney Fire Department's application for a Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) Grant through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program (AFG) administered by the Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). This grant, which the department has successfully utilized in the past, aims to enhance staffing and deployment capabilities to improve emergency response and ensure community safety. The SAFER Grant will cover the regular salary and benefits of personnel hired under the grant at 100% for a 36-month period.

FERTILIZATION AND ANT CONTROL CONTRACT

The City Council has given its approval to a Resolution awarding a contract to Southern Roots Lawn Care for Fertilization and Ant Control services for the Parks and Recreation Department. With over 20 years of experience in lawn care and pest control services, Southern Roots is a local company known for its high-quality professional products and services.
