LOVERS LANE IMPROVEMENTS (PROPOSITION E)

City Council has approved a Professional Services Agreement with Pierce-Murray Land Solutions, LLC, to provide engineering services for the Lovers Lane Reconstruction. This initiative is a key component of the Roadway Bond Projects, aimed at upgrading Lovers Lane from State Highway 80 to FM 740 into a Minor Collector with a 60-foot right-of-way. The enhancement plan includes expanding the road to three lanes, adding a center turn lane, relocating water lines, improving drainage and traffic flow, and introducing new streetlights and landscaping. The agreement, not to exceed $819,031, covers comprehensive engineering tasks such as surveying, design, and construction administration for the project.

POLICE DEPARTMENT GRANT APPROVAL

City Council approved a resolution to accept grant funding for the Forney Police Department's Justice Assistance Grant Program. The Office of the Governor approved the department's application, allocating $60,200 to support essential software and training. Notably, this grant does not require any matching funds from the city.

NORTH TEXAS MUNICIPAL WATER DISTRICT BOARD APPOINTMENT

The City Council has appointed Alan McCuistion to serve alongside Kalen Boren as one of Forney's representatives on the North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) Board. Given that Forney's population exceeds 5,000, the city is entitled to two representatives on the board. Each director serves a two-year term, with appointments staggered to ensure continuity; one of the two positions is due for reappointment or replacement every year. The role of the board members is crucial as they diligently work to promote the vitality and success of our region by ensuring that the NTMWD’s member cities receive the essential services necessary for growth and prosperity.
