NEW PARKS AND TRAILS MASTER PLAN
The City Council has approved an ordinance adopting a Parks and Open Spaces Master Plan to guide the growth and development of the parks system for the next 10 years. The plan includes three essential parts: First, it assesses the existing parks and trails, noting that Forney currently has about 322 acres of designated parkland, with 239 acres developed for use. Second, it incorporates standard-based and demand-based assessments, comparing existing facilities with national metrics and analyzing community interest and demand based on resident input. Lastly, the plan offers systemwide park and trail recommendations to improve accessibility and variety by incorporating various amenities and enhancing brand awareness among residents and visitors.
