PARKING RESTRICTIONS NEAR TWO FISD ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS
The City Council approved an ordinance to restrict parking to one side of the street in the Overland Grove subdivision on the loop formed by Almond Drive and Garden Grove Lane and in the Gateway Parks 4B subdivision on sand springs street. The intent is to allow for continued two-way traffic during drop-off and pickup times at Johnson Elementary and Willett Elementary School. Emergency access to neighboring areas will be maintained during peak school times. Once the Overland Grove and Gateway Parks neighborhoods are fully developed, this ordinance may be rescinded as additional parking spaces will be constructed near the schools. The Public Works Department will install striping and signage for enforcement, and both the Fire and Police Departments support this ordinance. More information and exhibits are available under discussion/action item #3 on the agenda.
BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS
On August 15th, the city council will make consider the (re)appointment of existing board/commission members and fill existing vacancies on the Building Standards Commission, Economic Development Corporation, Parks and Recreation Board, and Planning and Zoning Commission. Serving on a board or commission is a great way to get involved with your community. For more information and to apply to serve on a board/commission, visit forneytx.gov/boards.
