AUGUST 20TH, 2024
TEXAS HEALTH RESOURCES HOSPITAL
City Council approved a preliminary plat for the Forney Hospital Addition, located northwest of the intersection of North Gateway Blvd and U.S. Highway 80. This will be home to Texas Health Resources, the first full-service acute care hospital in the City of Forney. The hospital will offer an emergency room, operating suites, a labor and delivery department, various imaging services, and additional services to provide the entire continuum of care to the growing community. Construction is expected to be completed in 2027.
AMC THEATER PROPERTY REPLAT
City Council has approved a replat of the 7.463-acre property currently occupied by the AMC movie theater. This replat is intended to establish the necessary boundaries and easements for the creation of an outparcel lot on the theater property, allowing for the potential development of retail or restaurant space within a portion of the AMC parking lot. Creating the new lot does not result in any zoning conflicts with the existing development.
KAUFMAN COUNTY BURN BAN
FIRE STATION #2 IMPROVEMENTS
The council has approved a contract with Conduit Architecture and Design, LLC, to provide consulting and design services for the expansion and renovation of Fire Station No. 2. The contract, capped at $390,800, will cover enhancements such as increased bay capacity, additional dormitories, and upgrades to the interior spaces.
In his report, City Manager Charles Daniels mentioned that a burn ban has been issued for Kaufman County, effective August 20, 2024. The ban, prompted by a high drought index and a rise in grass fire incidents, prohibits all open burning, including the burning of tree and leaf debris as well as household trash, until further notice. For questions about the burn ban status, visit kaufmancounty.net or call 469-595-8899.
