NEW CITY HALL

THE ACAI BAR

The City Council has approved a resolution formally designating the newly acquired building at 401 Pinson Rd. as the new City Hall, while the former City Hall at 101 E. Main St. will now serve as the City Hall Annex. The new City Hall will house City Management, the City Secretary's office, Human Resources, Legal, Fire Administration, and Information Technology. The City Hall Annex (101 E. Main St.) will house Community Development, Engineering, and Communications. 402 N Bois D’ Arc will house Utility Billing, Public Works, and Finance.

The City Council has approved an Economic Incentive and Performance Agreement between the Forney Economic Development Corporation and The Acai Bar, LLC. This incentive aims to support The Acai Bar's proposed new location at 476 South FM 548. The Acai Bar, which currently operates in Amarillo, offers a variety of acai bowls, whips, smoothies, and more. This new location is expected to bring more healthy food options to the Forney community. Stay tuned for more information!

PUMP STATION IMPROVEMENTS

City council approved a Professional Services Agreement with Freeman-Millican, Inc., for consulting and design services for a new 5-million-gallon ground storage reservoir and pump station improvements. The awarded professional engineering design services will include a field survey, design work, and preparation of plans and specifications. This project involves designing a 5-million-gallon ground storage reservoir, pipe connections, piping, valves, valve vault, electrical systems, generator, and pump improvements as part of Phase 3 of the Pump Station No. 2 project located at Forney’s Community Park Site.

CRIME CONTROL AND PREVENTION DISTRICT

The City council approved an Ordinance ordering a Special Election to be held on November 5, 2024, to allow voters to consider the creation of the Forney Crime Control and Prevention District dedicated to crime reduction programs. If adopted, the Crime Control and Prevention District would collect a local sales tax at a rate of 1/4 of 1%. This adjustment would be accompanied by a reduction in the sales and use tax for the Forney Economic Development Corporation from 1/2 of 1% to 1/4 of 1%, ensuring the overall sales tax rate in the city remains unchanged. The establishment of a Crime Control and Prevention District would not result in a tax rate increase but involves a reallocation of existing sales tax revenues, which requires voter approval.
