After School & Camps

High Point Parks & Recreation offers high-quality, affordable after school programs with homework time, arts and crafts, indoor and outdoor play and friendships in a safe environment. Register for all programs by visiting our website or calling our office at 336.883.3469.

After School Program (Ages 5 - 10)

Our after school program offers a variety of activities including, gym games, arts & crafts, outside play and other planned activities. Parents are responsible for daily snacks. We follow Guilford County Schools' traditional calendar and schedule for inclement weather-related closures. Allen Jay Recreation Center - School bus transportation is provided from Allen Jay Elementary and Allen Jay Prep. Parents need to arrange school bus transportation at their child's school. Van pick-up is provided from Triangle Lake Montessori, Union Hill Elementary and Jamestown Elementary Schools. We accept drop-offs from home or other schools. Deep River Recreation Center - Transportation is provided from Southwest, Phoenix, Florence and Colfax Elementary Schools. We accept drop-offs from home or other schools. Oakview Recreation Center - Transportation is provided from Oakview, Shadybrook, Northwood and Kirkman Park Elementary Schools and Johnson Street Global Studies and Montlieu Academy of Technology. We accept drop-offs from home or other schools. Mondays - Fridays, August 29 - June 9, 2 - 6 p.m. $125 per person/month Discovery Sports After School Program (Ages 6 - 10)

The Morehead Discovery Sports After School Program is designed to develop and improve the all-around sports skill sets of each participant. Through drills and practice, participants will learn the fundamentals of a wide variety of traditional and non-traditional sports and games, as well as teamwork and sportsmanship. Result will be an ability to play sports in pick-up or recreational play settings and sufficient instruction to try out and play for an organized team. We follow Guilford County Schools' traditional calendar and schedule for inclement weather-related closures. Transportation provided from Fairview, Parkview, Montlieu, Johnson Street, Union Hill and Kirkman Park Elementary Schools. Morehead Recreation Center Mondays - Fridays August 29 - June 9 2 - 6 p.m. $80 per person/month

ASPIRE

Formerly known as Special Populations, ASPIRE stands for Adaptive Sports, Programs and Inclusive Recreation. ASPIRE offers a variety of programming meant to keep you continually active, social and engaged. Register today for events such as archery and Special Olympics. Friends of all abilities are welcome! The Miracle League of High Point (Ages 5+)

Everyone deserves the chance to play baseball! This program teaches youth, teens and adults with physical, intellectual and developmental disabilities the foundational skills of baseball through game play, sportsmanship and social engagement with peers. High Point Athletic Complex Fridays & Saturdays, Oct. 1 - 15 Fridays, 6 - 8 p.m., Saturdays 9 a.m. - noon Free

ASPIRE Halloween Dance (Ages 5+)

People with disabilities, their families and friends are invited to join in the fun at our annual Halloween dance! Costumes are welcomed but not required. We will also have trunk or treating. Miracle League Field Tuesday, Oct. 25, 6 - 8 p.m. Free

ASPIRE Christmas Dance (Ages 5+)

Our Christmas dance for people with disabilities, their families and friends is a long-standing and well-loved tradition. New friends are welcome! Non-marking shoes are required for dancing in the gym. Morehead Recreation Center Tuesday, Dec. 6, 6 - 8 p.m. Free

Big Three Challenger Basketball League (Ages 5+)

Start the new year off by joining the 2023 Big Three Challenger Basketball League for individuals with disabilities, presented by High Point Parks & Recreation in partnership with the Greensboro and Kernersville Parks and Recreation departments! Give it your best shot at this adaptive archery competition! Participants will have time to practice beforehand, and adaptive equipment will be provided. Prizes will be awarded! Morehead Recreation Center Thursday, Dec. 1, 5:30 - 7 p.m. Free

ASPIRE Adaptive Archery Open Gym (Ages 8+)

Participants will learn the basic fundamentals of archery, pop balloons and play archery games. Adaptive equipment is available, and no previous experience is needed. Morehead Recreation Center Tuesdays, Oct. 4 & 18, Nov. 1 & 15 5 - 6 p.m. Free

Special Olympics Guilford/High Point Golf Practice (Ages 8+)

Special Olympics athletes will practice for the fall 2022 golf season. They will engage in socially-distanced, skill-based play and increase their physical activity with safety protocols in place. Oak Hollow Golf Course Sundays, October 2 - 30, 6 - 7 p.m. Free

Special Olympics Guilford/High Point Bocce Practice (Ages 8+)
