Renaud Center Camp offers care when school is out this holiday season While winter break may be a welcomed reprieve for students, many parents may need extra support to ensure their children have reliable care during the day. The Renaud Center offers just that with the Holiday Break Camp during the week of Christmas and New Year’s Day. Kids ages 5 –12 will have a great time playing games, making crafts, finding new friends and cooking up a little fun. Camp is from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m., and dates include December 23, 26 and 27, plus December 30-31 and January 2–3. Spring Camp will also be offered the week of March 9-13.

We are happy to announce that we will be bringing our Youth Soccer League indoors with the Renaud Futsal League! Futsal is a variant of soccer and played on a basketball court using a smaller, low-bouncing ball. Games are played using a 5v5 small-sided format during two 20-minute halves. Teams are encouraged to register early as space is limited. (Divisions are split between age and gender, but may be combined based on registrations.) Eligibility of players on a team are based on their age as of January 1, 2019. Team registration only (Min 5 per team/Max 15 per team).

Youth Soccer League – Recreation • Ages 3–11 Kids love our exciting, eight-game leagues which focus on soccer skills, rules and fun! Leagues fill quickly, so register early! Games are played at Sports Park on Saturdays between 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Parents, we need volunteer coaches! Parent coaches are eligible to have one child’s registration fee reduced if slots are available. If you coach, you can register your child for only $25. Starting January 24, an additional $12 late fee will be charged for registration, which ends Thursday, February 6, or whenever the program fills. Eligibility is based on a child’s age as of January 1, 2019. The Coaches’ Meeting will be held Saturday, March 14 at 8 a.m. for U4 – U7 coaches, and at 9:30 a.m. for U8 – U12 coaches. Sorry, we do not accept team/player requests from parents, only roster requests from coaches. Please note that roster requests do not register a child for the program and it does not guarantee a child a spot in the program. Practices are not a part of the fee you pay, so refunds or team changes will not be made to accommodate practice schedules. Leagues for U11 and U12 may play 8v8 depending on registration. Leagues U8 and older will not be awarded participation medals.

O’Fallon & Wentzville Rec Premier Soccer Powered by CORE Soccer Training • Ages 6–13 The Rec Premier Soccer program will be based on true small-sided 4v4 game play with technical development along with the tactical awareness needed for the individual player. We are confident that the player development in this league will give these players a great opportunity to develop their skills. We recommend that players stay on their existing teams and utilize this as a player enhancement program. This will be an 8-week program starting March 28, 2020. (Divisions are split between age and gender, but may be combined based on registrations.) Location: Rec Premier Soccer will run on Friday evenings under the lights in both O’Fallon (Dames Park) and Wentzville (Heartland Park), we will alternate weeks at each city park.

Participants must be under the age listed as of January 1, 2019. Example: U7 (2013) = born in 2013, and is under 7 years old as of January 1, 2019.

Time: One hour per evening (6:00–7:00 p.m. or 7:00–8:00 p.m.) Program: We will train on a specific skill each week for the first 15 minutes, then divide up for a 2/20 minute half 4v4 game. • Week one: introduce the 4v4 format as well as train.

O’FallonTheatreWorks presents The Man from Earth

LLSC

The Man from Earth is a play by Jerome Bixby and was adapted from the 2007 science fiction film of the same name. The story follows the history professor John Oldman and his sudden decision to leave the university and move away. Concerned for their friend, many other colleagues of John’s from the university come to visit his home and give him a going away party; but their true intention is to discover why he has decided to leave. Little do they know that the truth they’re seeking is not one they wish to uncover. The Man from Earth delves deep into the human condition. It depicts how real people react to something that challenges their very morals and if they can put them aside in the name of friendship and truth. O’FallonTheatreWorks’ tickets on sale now! • $12 general admission • $10 seniors (ages 55+), children and students (ages 6-17) • $5 children (ages 2-5) • No charge for children under age 2 (and held on lap) • Discount rate for groups of 10 or more • $2 additional charge at the box office, which opens an hour before each show.

Tumbling Sessions are six weeks unless otherwise stated. Tumbling promotes confidence and positive self-esteem. Skills taught enhance balance, coordination, strength, and flexibility. Our classes encourage proper skill progressions which are taught in a FUN and SAFE environment. Curriculum is individually based on the needs of each student. Class levels are designed for most students to remain enrolled for multiple sessions as strength and flexibility develop. Equipment includes panel mats, landing mats, low balance beam, mini trampolines, incline and cartwheel mats, and a low bar for preschoolers. Students may wear fitted shirt and gym shorts or warm ups. Leotards/unitards also work well. We are barefoot during class. Parents are invited to view the second half of our last class of the session to see our progress.

Wee Tumblers • Ages 1½–3 This parent/child class will have both actively involved in all activities. This includes music, streamers, hoops, parachutes and ball activities. Basic rolls, crab walks, and cartwheels are introduced. Min/Max: 5/10

Martial Arts Tae Kwon Do This six-week Martial Arts program will focus on the traditional Korean form of Tae Kwon Do known as Chung Do Kwan. This style is based on explosive movements, devastating power and self-discipline. All students begin training at the “no belt” level. After learning the eight basics and the first form they will be invited to test for the white belt. Students will progress through a series of techniques and belts at their own pace and will not necessarily test each session. Because each student progresses at his or her own pace, testing will be at the discretion of the instructor. Children who would like to progress at a faster pace may register for more than one class. Min/Max: 7/20

If you are interested in watching one of the classes to see if it is something your child would be interested in, you may do so the last week of the session.

Civic Dance Studio is accepting new students! Contact Amy Jordan at 636-474-8120 or ajordan@ofallon.mo.us.

Civic Dance Studio Through May 2020 This great nine-month dance program encourages students to practice and improve throughout the school year and culminates with the year-end dance recital. Class participation is crucial in preparing for the recital, so we ask that children commit to attending all scheduled classes from September 2019 through May 2020. New students will be accepted into the program at any time. Classes are held at the Krekel Civic Center, 305 Civic Park Drive, O’Fallon 63366. Regular participation in Civic Dance Studio is the best way to help students build a progressive foundation for dance as they learn and practice dance steps and master the skills they need.

Aquatics Learn to Swim

O

’Fallon’s Learn to Swim program is built on teaching aquatic and safety skills in a logical progression. Our goal is to teach children and adults how to swim and be safe in and around the water. The program is composed of 11 course levels:

Shrimp I and II, Pollywog Turtle Seahorse Explorer Submarine Clipper Sailor Adventurer Barracuda Adult

Aqua Learning: Parent and child participation is required. Class size is limited to eight parent-child couples. Pollywog: Class ratio is four to one instructor. Parents are required to be in the water the first four classes. Preschool – Level 3: Class ratio is six children to one instructor. Levels 4 – 6: Class ratio is eight children to one instructor. Which class is right for my child? To ensure your child’s success in the Learn to Swim program, it’s important to register children for the appropriate level. Children who have participated in the swimming program should register according to the last class successfully completed. Each child must pass a particular level before proceeding to the next. Participants will move to the next class or skill level when all skills from the previous level are mastered. Some classes may seem repetitive, but we want swimmers to perfect their skills in order to advance safely. Please keep in mind that children learn at different paces, and it is common to repeat a class. Weekday classes at the Renaud Center meet twice weekly for four weeks and last 35 minutes. Saturday morning sessions last 40 minutes and meet for seven weeks. The Aqua Learning levels help children ages 6 months to 3 years become comfortable in and around water and prepare them to learn how to swim. The classes are divided into three sections: Shrimp I, Shrimp II and Pollywog. Please note: Classes may seem repetitive because they are introductions to water.

Swimming lessons save lives! Participation in formal swimming lessons can reduce the risk of drowning by 88 percent among children aged one to four years. (Source: Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine 2009) Every day, about ten people die from unintentional drowning. Of these, two are children aged 14 or younger. Drowning ranks fifth among the leading causes of unintentional injury death in the United States. (Source: CDC, 2016) Swimming is just like reading – you have to keep practicing it in order to get better! We offer group lessons weekdays and Saturdays in the morning and evening, along with private and semi-private lessons.

Aqua Learning: Pollywog • Ages 2–3

Parent-child or guardian participation in the water is required. The instructor will demonstrate techniques as parents learn how to safely guide children and help them advance at their own pace. Min/Max: 3/8

This transitional class is for children who have passed Shrimp II but who are not quite ready for the Turtle class. The Pollywog class is designed to help swimmers gain confidence and independence as they master introductory skills and learn safe practices. Parents or guardians should be prepared to assist their child during the first four classes. The 40-minute Saturday class meets once a week for seven weeks. The 35-minute Thursday–Tuesday class meets twice a week for four weeks. Min/Max: 3/8
