SUMMER Want to have the best summer ever? With a different theme every week, our camps will leave your child with memories for years to come! The camps will include adventurous outdoor trips, visiting the local beaches, playing games, making crafts, and much more! Camps will run weekly from July 4 - August 26 from 9am - 3pm Monday - Friday Additional care is available 8am - 5pm Weekly rates are $175 (Week 5 is $140, Week 8 is $200) $40 pre-registered daily rates Sibling discounts are available when you register 2, 3, or more siblings!
WEEK 1 - Treasure Hunters July 4 - 8 Let's start off camps with a week long treasure hunt! Build your own treasure box, solve different puzzles and riddles everyday as you work your way to the final prize at the end of the week!
WEEK 2 - Summer Olympics July 11 - 15 This week campers will compete in Olympic themed games! Baton relays, tug-o-war, obstacle coures, and more!

WEEK 6 - Beach Wrecked August 8 - 12 How many beaches do you think we can hit this week! We'll have sand castle competitions, fort building, survival challenges, and more.
WEEK 3 - Mad Science July 18 - 22 Get read because this week we are headed to the lab! If you love getting messy, having fun, and doing all sorts of experiments, then this is the week for you!
WEEK 7 - Outdoor Adventures August 15 - 19 This week we'll head out to the local trails, parks, and lakes and enjoy the open air! We'll go on scavenger hunts, nature walks, and explore the great outdoors!
WEEK 4 - Survivor July 25 - 29 Get your dose of survivor fun with exciting tribes, obstacle courses, shelter building, reward challenges and more! In this fun packed week, nobody is sent to tribal council. We’ll all outlast and outplay in survival style!
WEEK 5 - Challenge Week August 2 - 5 (No camp Aug 1) Are you up for the challenge? This week will will take on various team and solo challenges. Crafts, obstacle courses, food challenges and more await you this week!
WEEK 8 - Summer Send Off! August 22 - 26 The best way to finish our summer is by enjoying the great outdoors! This last week of camp will have us spending our days at the Outdoor Learning Centre. We will enjoy the lovely beaches, go for hikes, play games in the field, and even try some fun outdoor activities offered by the centre!

WEEK 4 - Under the Sea July 25 - 29 This week we will be learning all about sea animals and the ocean. Learn to make fish crafts, fish in a pool, and more!
WEEK 2 - Animal Planet July 11- 15 We'll learn all about different animals through games, crafts, and activities! This week of camp won't feature your everyday dogs and cats!

ARENA & SPORT Skookum Soccer Camp
Monday - Friday July 11 - 15 Skookum Soccer Camp is excited to partner with the City of Powell River Parks, Recreation & Culture department this summer for a soccer focused week of camp! Instruction will be provided by locally accomplished players and Villa FC members, as well as certified coaches with a passion toward nurturing grassroots and ongoing development of our community’s young players.
FULL DAY & HALF DAY
Our morning sessions are geared towards players who just want a half day program and prefer a soccer focus and will consist primarily of warm up, conditioning, individual skill development, instruction, fun team games, and scrimmages. Afternoons will consist of additional fun activities. We want players to experience enjoyment and a sense of accomplishment that comes from skill development. Campers will be evaluated by staff so that their own instructional requirements can be addressed throughout the camp. We are committed to providing players with skill building and tools to achieve their goals, while fostering sportsmanship, and personal growth both on and off the pitch.
TINY TITANS
Your player will enjoy an hour of soccer focused fun games and drills based on a FUNdamental philosophy and designed on making the sport fun & inviting, while learning basic soccer skills, teamwork, and fair play, and also improving balance, movement skills, coordination, and agility. SUMMER Aquatics SWIM LESSONS Adult Swim Lessons Ages: 16 and up
For those of you who are not quite up to swimming laps yet, with a desire to do so - sign up for these classes where you will learn skills to be comfortable and relaxed in the water. Floats, glides, basic kicking, and breathing techniques will be encouraged in a shallow water environment. Deep water skills will be introduced to those who are ready for it. Fridays from 6:00 - 6:30pm $50/6 classes July 8 - Aug 19 (no class July 29) Instructor: TBD Location: Aquatic Centre
Private Swim Lessons Ages: 8 and up

This course begins the transition from lifesaving to lifeguarding and prepares candidates for responsibilities as Assistant Lifeguards. Candidates strengthen and expand their lifesaving skills and begin to apply the principles and techniques of active surveillance in aquatic facilities. Endurance standard is a 400 metre swim within 11 minutes. Candidates must attend ALL sessions. Bring your Canadian Lifesaving Manual and provide proof of your Bronze Medallion certification to the instructor. Monday - Friday from 9:00am - 2:30pm July 18 -22 $225 Location: Poolside Room
National Lifeguard - Pool
Prerequsite: Bronze Cross, minimum 15 years of age, Standard First Aid from recognized agency (Lifesaving Society, Canadian Red Cross, St. John Ambulance, Canadian Ski Patrol, Heart and Stroke Foundation).
The National Lifeguard (NL) Pool certification develops the fundamental values, judgment, knowledge, skills and fitness required by lifeguards to provide effective safety supervision in swimming pool environments. This is a WorkSafeBC Occupational Level 1 equivalent and can be used in the workplace. Through a blended learning of online tutorials plus hands-on training and practice, this 8-hour basic first aid course will give you the confidence to respond to respiration and circulation emergencies, including asthma, allergic reactions, heart attach, stroke and bleeding. Must complete online portion prior to classroom session.

Bianca Hoppe has a professional background in the medical field and is a certified BCRPA Group Fitness, Aquatic Fitness, Third Age, Weight Training, Spin and Pilates instructor. She is also a certified Personal Trainer on land and in water. Bianca is fascinated by the human body and all its capabilities and the science that always discovers new and improved workouts to either get people in better shape, helps them to recover from injuries or improve their everyday mobility. Gail Westgate has studied fitness theory, weight training and personal training for over a decade. Gail has focused on helping people achieve positive health and fitness changes that support their day to day life. She has learned from personal experience how to overcome fears and blocks and develop new skills that promote well being and accomplishment. Gail is especially adept at engaging with clients to realize important life style challenges and integrate new strengths and interest to their day to day life. Her good humour and positive attitude have inspired many people to make long lasting changes and gain confidence in their abilities.
Aquatic Personal Training Packages
All session are 45 minutes. The viscosity of the water provides an excellent source of resistance when incorporated into an Aquatic Personal Training Program. This resistance allows for muscle strengthening without the need of weights. This program is especially useful for those with arthritis, healing fractured bones, or who are overweight. The Hearts in Motion Walking program is designed to encourage people to participate in regular physical activity by walking. Walking is a great way to boost health and energy and it's easily incorporated into any lifestyle. You can reduce risk factors such as stress, blood pressure, blood cholesterol, and body fat by incorporating thirty minutes of physical activity most days of the week. Walks will occur in various locations around the community. Empowerment Self-Defence Adult Workshop
This Empowerment Self-Defence Workshop is specifically designed for young women (LGBTQ inclusive), ages 13-18. We will be discussing the spectrum of gender based violence and how to recognize and interrupt behaviors starting at the lower end of the continuum as a method of preventing violence. Participants will be introduced to techniques to increase their awareness and intuition skills; they will practice setting boundaries and saying no with assertive voice and body language through role plays and other verbal activities. They will also have a chance to try out simple, yet efficient physical techniques and have fun tapping into their inherent power.
This Empowerment Self-Defence Workshop is specifically designed for women (LGBTQ inclusive) 19 and over. Participants will be taught a holistic approach to personal safety and given a set of tools to combat the whole spectrum of violence, from verbal harassment to physical violence. Participants will be introduced to concepts such as how to interrupt violence by listening to their intuition, assessing their options, asserting boundaries, using de-escalation strategies, and practicing a range of mental, verbal and physical responses to protect their emotional, physical and mental well-being.
