Inspired by ‘The Glimme’ written by Emily Rodda & illustrated by Marc McBride.

1. Print the templates provided on pages 7 & 8 and colour in using CleverPatch™ Triangular Markers. Cut out the dragon head pieces of your template. Adult supervision is recommended when using scissors.

2. Use markers to colour the edge of your Wooden Extending Jaw pieces. We have chosen to use orange. Apply Tacky Glue to the edges and sprinkle over CleverPatch™ Gold Glitter to add shimmer to your dragon!

3. Cut out the rectangle pieces from the template on page 7.

4. Use a glue stick to glue the long rectangle pieces to each of the rectangle extending jaw pieces.

5. Use split pins to construct the extending part of the Wooden Extending Jaws.

6. Use a glue stick to attach the dragon template to the wooden semicircle pieces, gluing the top of the head to the larger piece and the bottom jaw to the smaller piece.

7. Use Tacky Glue to attach the wooden semicircle pieces to the extending jaws. Make sure they align with each other when you extend the jaws closed.

8. Hold the opposite end to the dragon head, then open and close the jaw and watch your Glimme Dragon roar!

Inspired by ‘My Friend Fred’ written by Frances Watts & illustrated by A. Yi.

1. Mix 1 part burnt sienna and 1 part white acrylic paint together to create light brown. Paint the wooden dog and feet. Allow to dry. Assemble your dog holder. For permanent assembly, use glue.

2. Create a dog tag by cutting a circle 3cm in diameter from embossing foil. Adult supervision is recommended when using scissors. Emboss the name ‘Fred’ into the tag using a scratch board tool.

3. Pierce a small hole into the top of the tag using a hobby knife. Adult supervision is recommended when using a hobby knife. Thread a jump ring through the hole.

4. Cut a strip of blue felt 1cm wide and 10cm long. Attach a jump ring to the felt, then attach the other jump ring and tag to it.

5. Use a glue dot at the back of your wooden dog to attach the collar.

6. Use a glue dot to stick a wiggle eye onto your dog. Add a face using a permanent marker.

7. Paint your coasters white on both sides. Allow to dry.

8. Using a pencil, sketch out your favourite parts of ‘My Friend Fred’ onto each of the coasters.

9. Colour in each of the coasters using permanent markers. Allow to dry. Your Interactive Story is now ready to go on display!

1. Print the templates provided on pages 9-12. We have printed onto A3 cardboard to provide a sturdy surface when constructing. Decorate your templates using watercolour. Allow to dry.

2. Cut out each of the templates using a hobby knife or scissors. Adult supervision is recommended when using a hobby knife or scissors.

3. Decorate your shadow box. We have chosen to put the book’s title and author on the front of our shadow box.

4. Glue template piece 4 to the back of your shadow box before constructing.

5. Construct one side of your box using double sided tape. Leave the other side open so you can place in the other template pieces.

6. For template pieces 1, 2 & 3, add double sided tape to the back of the tabs labelled ‘Glue’. Fold each tab along the dotted lines.

7. Remove the backing from the double sided tape on the left of the template. Slide template 1 into the very front of the shadow box and attach the tabs. Repeat for templates 2 & 3, placing them just behind the previous template.

8. Remove the backing from the double sided tape on the right side of each template piece. Use tape to secure the open side of the shadow box. Attach each template by reaching in the front and pressing it against the shadow box.

1. Visit https://spotthestation. nasa.gov/ and go to sighting opportunities to find out when you can see the International Space Station from your location! Look for the space station on one of the designated dates and times for your location. It is good to record notes so that you can replicate it for your projector lamp.

2. Using a pencil, sketch onto your scratch art insert what you saw when you went looking for the International Space station. Use a wooden scratch board tool to scratch out your design.

3. You can also add the date and time to remind you when you were able to see the International Space Station.

5. Place your insert into your projector lamp. Insert batteries into the base of your lamp.

6. Once the lights are out, turn on your projector lamp and be reminded of the time you saw the International Space Station! 6
