1. Cut a paper plate in half and set aside. Draw a semi-circle along the inside rim of another plate as shown.

2. Slightly bend the plate and make a small cut to create a slit inside the semi-circle. Unfold and use the slit to cut around your pencil line.

3. Paint both sides of the half plate using burnt sienna paint and the other plate using equal parts burnt sienna and white paint. Allow to dry.

4. Align the two plate pieces as shown, with the base of each plate facing outwards. Staple around the outer rim to secure.

5. Using half a sheet of blue tissue paper, fold in half lengthwise, then again into thirds. Cut in half along the long edge. You should have 2 stacks of paper measuring approx. 12.5 x 11.5cm. Wrap one around a wooden bead as shown and glue to secure.

6. Wrap the second stack of tissue paper around the body so it looks like a blanket. Glue the tissue paper in place and allow to dry.

7. Cut a sheet of yellow tissue paper in half and slightly scrunch the sheet. Fill the pocket between the paper plates with the tissue paper. Use small amounts of glue to hold in place. Allow to dry.

8. Cut small lengths of yellow raffia. Glue the raffia pieces to the tissue paper and plate in a random fashion to look like straw. Allow to dry.

9. Add details to your manger using a permanent pen. Attach three glitter star stickers to the top of the manger. Glue baby Jesus to the middle of the straw. Allow to dry. Your Paper Plate Manger is now ready to display!

1. Watch our Basic Macramé Knots and Double Half Hitch Knot videos before you begin. Cut a 1m length of macramé cord. Fold the length in half and thread the looped end through a bead so the loop measures about 3cm above the bead.

2. Place the looped end over a wooden ring and pull the ends and the bead through the loop to create a cow hitch knot. Push the bead into the centre of the ring so the cord ends sit over the bottom of the ring.

3. Bring each end of the cord up and through the ring from the back so the cord lengths hang over the ring as shown. Pull tight on each cord to secure the bead in the centre.

4. Cut 12 x 30cm lengths of macramé cord and use to make 6 cow hitch knots on each side of the ring. Ensure the cords are evenly spaced and the knots are pulled tight.

5. Use the cord on the left side from step 3 as your filler cord to tie double half hitch knots around the left edge of the ring with the smaller lengths.

6. Repeat step 5 for the right side using the right side cord from step 3 as your filler cord. Bring the two filler cords together and tie a knot so it sits at the top of the ring. Tie another knot close to the cord ends to create a loop for hanging.

You can use hairspray to help hold your Angel’s wings in place!

7. Cut 16 x 30cm lengths of cord and separate into two piles. Tape the ends of each pile so they are held together. Use a skewer to separate the strands of the cords.

8. Thread one pile of the cord lengths through the ring on one side, so the cord lengths sit under the bead. Hold the first pile in one hand and then thread the second pile through the ring on the other side of the bead. Ensure the ends are aligned.

9. Wrap a 30cm length of gold metallic yarn around the top section of the cord lengths near the ring. Tie a knot to secure and trim any excess yarn. Remove the tape from the ends of the cord lengths.

10. Wrap a 15cm length of gold yarn around the top of the cord that holds the bead in place to create a halo. Tie a knot to secure and trim any excess yarn.

11. Separate the strands of the cord lengths on each side of the ring.
