1. Paint a paper plate gold. Add a sprinkle of gold glitter over the plate while the paint is still wet. Allow to dry.
2. Print and cut out the templates on page 8. Adult supervision is recommended when using scissors. We have used the leaf template as a guide to cut out green cover paper.
3. Wrap natural raffia around the edge of your plate and glue down. Then add leaves and sequins as decoration. Adult supervision is recommended when using a glue gun. Allow to dry.
4. Mix white and purple acrylic paint and paint three cardboard rolls. Mix white and magenta acrylic paint and paint one cardboard roll. Allow to dry. We have used white paint to write on each candle what they symbolise during Advent. Allow to dry.
5. We have used the flame template from page 8 as a guide to trace onto yellow and orange cover paper. Use a glue stick and glue the paper flame to the inside of the cardboard roll so that it is aligned with the words.
6. Use a glue gun to attach the candles to the paper plate. Make sure you have your candles in the correct order. Allow to dry. Your Advent Wreath is now ready to display!
Traditionally the Advent Wreath is an evergreen (signifying continuous life) wreath shaped in a perfect circle (symbolising the eternity of God). Each week of Advent (the four Sundays leading up to Christmas) a particular candle is lit. The three purple or violet candles signify hope, love and peace and Joy is represented by the pink candle (which is lit on the 3rd Sunday). © CleverPatch 2018 - www.cleverpatch.com.au
