piece of litho paper. 2. Using a scalpel, cut out the stencil shape. Set the inside shape aside
and keep the litho sheet stencil. You will now have the silhouette shape for your design, but it will have no details like eyes, nose and mouth. This is the section that will be coloured. 3. Cut out the details from the litho sheet you put aside like the eyes, nose
and mouth. You will need to place these on the screen to block out the ink. This will leave the detail areas white. 4. Secure the litho paper stencil to the bottom of the screen with masking
tape (the shiny side of the stencil should be facing the screen). Tape all of the edges around the outside so there is no screen showing. Don’t tape the inside edges of the stencil. 5. Place any inside detail pieces of the stencil on the screen and attach
with blu-tack. 6. Prepare your fabric. Remember to insert some newspaper or card
inside so that the paint doesn’t seep through. 7. Place the screen on top of your fabric, positioning the stencil in the
centre of your bag. 8. Spoon a small amount of paint at the top of the screen. 9. Grab the squeegee and firmly push the ink down the screen. Scrape
any excess ink off the squeegee back onto the screen and repeat in a different direction. This technique of screen printing is usually a two or three person job. One person to hold the screen down firmly while the other applies the paint to the fabric. 10. Once finished, scrape any excess paint back into the container and,
starting at one corner, gently peel off the screen. 11. Pull off the entire stencil and clean the screen and squeegee. Allow to
dry completely before making another stencil and new prints. 12. Cover the design with a piece of greased baking paper and heat set
the paint by ironing over the design. 4

bigger your pumpkin will be. 2. Use a running stitch to loosely sew around the edge of your orange
circle. (For more information on how to sew, see our activity sheet ‘How to Hand Sew’). 3. Pull your stitching tight so the orange circle begins to join together.
Before you completely close the circle insert some wadding then continue to pull your stitching tight. You should now have the base of your pumpkin. 4. To create a stalk for your pumpkin, cut a rectangle of brown felt. Roll
your rectangle up and insert one end into the top of your pumpkin. To attach the stalk and secure the top of your pumpkin, stitch the top of your pumpkin closed. 5. For a finishing touch create a leaf for your pumpkin. Cut a leaf shape
from green felt. Using a back stitch decorate the centre of your leaf with green metallic yarn. Attach your leaf to your pumpkin by stitching it to the stalk.
