1. Print the templates provided on pages 7 & 8. Roughly cut around each template. Adult supervision is recommended when using scissors. Glue the templates onto black paper.

2. Cut out the template pieces using a hobby knife. Adult supervision is recommended when using a hobby knife.

3. Fold template pieces 1 & 2 along the dotted lines.

4. Paint the inside of your shadow box using orange for the background and black for the bottom & inside edge of the front of your box. Allow to dry.

5. Apply double sided tape to the underside of the tabs that say ‘Glue’. Remove the backing paper and align template piece 1 to the front of the shadow box. Repeat for piece 2, placing it behind piece 1. Glue the bats onto the orange background.

6. Construct your box using double sided tape. Make sure that the background side pieces are on the inside so you can see the orange paint.

7. Paint the outside of your shadow box using black paint. Allow to dry.

8. Use masking tape to place the LED string light around the inside of the shadow box. Hide the cork end behind your templates.

9. Once the lights are out, turn your LED light string on and watch your Spooky Shadow box light up the dark!

1. Use a glue gun to glue 4 small spools to the bottom of your papier mache bauble to create legs. Adult supervision is recommended when using a glue gun. Make sure the spools are positioned so that the bauble stands upright. Allow to dry.

2. Paint the bauble and spools using CleverPatch™ black acrylic paint. Allow to dry.

3. Print the template provided on page 9. Cut out the template pieces and glue to a piece of A4 black cover paper. Allow to dry. Cut out the pieces again. Fold along the dotted line. These will be used as your cat’s ears.

4. Cut 4 pieces of beading wire 15cm long. Bend one piece to create a triangular shape as shown which will be used for the cat’s nose.

5. Use glue dots to attach the ears to the top of the bauble, either side of the opening. Attach wiggle eyes using glue dots. Place a glue dot below the eyes where you want the nose to sit. Place the 3 straight pieces of wire from step 4 onto the glue dot, then the nose on top.

6. Wrap a black chenille stem around the hanger of the bauble to create a tail. You may need to use a glue dot to help hold your tail up.

Your Black Cat Cauldron is now ready to fill! 4

Vampire Bat Embroidery Materials: • Mini Embroidery Hoop with Fabric – 18930 • Sewing Needles – Sharp – Pack of 6 – 17870 • Embroidery Thread – Purple – 48m – 12379 • Ultra Bright LED Light Panel – A3 – 14924 • Ribbon Pack – 65g Pack – 10798 • Other materials required: pencil & template (page 10)

1. Print the template provided on page 10 and cut out. Adult supervision is recommended when using scissors. Alternatively you could draw your own spooky design!

2. Use sticky tape to tape the template (or your design) to the back of the embroidery hoop.

3. Place the embroidery hoop onto a light panel with the fabric facing up. Lightly sketch the design onto the fabric using pencil.

4. Once you have finished sketching the design, remove the template from the back of the embroidery hoop.

5. Cut a piece of embroidery thread 5m long. Thread it onto a needle and tie a knot in one end to hold it in place when sewing. Adult supervision is recommended when using a sewing needle.

6. Begin embroidering the fabric, following the design you traced in step 3. You can try and use a variety of embroidery techniques or just stick with the basics.

7. Once you have finished, tie a knot in the thread at the back of the hoop. Cut off any excess thread. Tie a piece of ribbon to the top of the hoop to create a hanger. Your Vampire Bat Embroidery is now ready to hang!

1. Print the templates provided on pages 11 & 12. Cut out each of the pieces. Adult supervision is recommended when using scissors.

2. Attach three of the long strips together with glue. Attach the other three long strips together and allow them to dry.

3. To create the paper spring, glue one long strip on top of the other at a right angle. Then start folding them, one on top of the other.

4. As you continue to fold the strips on top of each other, you will see the paper spring start to grow.

5. When you have finished folding the two strips together, you should be able to squish the paper spring up and down.

6. Glue the final two folds together to hold the paper spring in place.

7. Glue the spider template to the top of the paper spring. Use tacky glue to attach a black pom pom and wiggle eyes to create a 3D spider. You can also use other colour pom poms for your spider.

8. Construct your match box and decorate with a marker and Halloween stickers.

9. Glue the bottom of your paper spring to the inside of the match box, making sure the spider is facing up. Gently press the spider into the match box and close the lid. Your Trick Box is now ready to give your friends a fright!
