Welcome to Beaulieu Home of the Montagu family since 1538 and also home to the world famous National Motor Museum. I first opened Palace House to the public in 1952 and have been welcoming groups for over 50 years. A feature in our early days was a display of veteran cars in the front hall of Palace House, intended as a memorial to my pioneer motorist father, which sparked a new public interest in old cars. That has now grown into a collection of over 250 vehicles telling the story of motoring from its earliest days to the present. However, Beaulieu has much more to offer our group visitors, a 13th century abbey, beautiful grounds and gardens and, nestling on the Beaulieu River, the picturesque village of Buckler’s Hard. Our themed tours for groups have always been very popular, with something for everyone, whatever their interest. Building on our award winning education programmes we now offer a number of ‘tailored tours’ for adult groups on a wide variety of topics. I hope you will enjoy your visit and please come back and see us again soon.

Plus, there is a high-level Monorail and a ride on the replica 1912 open top London bus for a bird’s eye view of the sights at Beaulieu.

The National Motor Museum

Palace House & Gardens

Enjoy historic Palace House, home to the Montagu family since 1538. Meet the ‘below stairs’ staff and listen to tales from the Butler, Cook and Housemaids for an insight into the workings of a Victorian household of 1889. Gardens include the fragrant Victorian Flower Garden, the informal Wilderness Garden, dating back to the 1770s and the Ornamental Kitchen Garden laid out on the site of the original 1872 Palace House kitchen garden.

Beaulieu Abbey

Despite much of the Abbey being destroyed during the Dissolution of the Monasteries, there is still much to see. In the Cellarer’s Hall, a film presentation tells the story of the Abbey, from its founding to the Dissolution. The exploration of the Monastic Life exhibition shows the daily life of its founder monks, whilst upstairs, impressive wall hangings depict scenes from the Abbey’s history.

Rides and Drives Be transported through history with a ride on the Veteran Bus, Monorail and Wheels pod ride.

James Bond Experience and Secret Army Exhibition In the James Bond Experience get close to genuine cars, boats and props from the James Bond films including the Jaguar XKR Roadster from ‘Die Another Day’, the Aston Martin Volante from ‘The Living Daylights’, and the Ford driven by Daniel Craig in his first incarnation as Bond in ‘Casino Royale’. Don’t miss The Secret Army Exhibition which tells the story of the training school established for the Special Operations Executive (SOE) during WWll, for agents sent to work with the Resistance in occupied Europe.
