benefit in focus As a member, you’ll already know about some of the fantastic benefits of membership, including free help-lines and magazines on travel and fundraising, networking and information sharing opportunities, as well as exclusive offers and competitions. Our latest benefit is a chance to set up a free website for your group. You can find out more about this in the Q&A below… Q. WHY SHOULD I SET UP A WEB PAGE? A. By creating your own webpage, you can keep in touch with your group, have your say about future ideas – and even recruit new members. Your site also has a unique URL and is searchable by Google so you can use it to attract new members as well. It’s simple to create and manage, and best of all, it’s a completely free service! Q. IS IT PRIVATE AND SECURE? A. Absolutely. Your privacy is very important to us. No other users have access to your Profile information and only members who have been cleared by a Moderator can have full access to a group’s page, including photos you’ve uploaded and comments you’ve made. Q. WHO CAN I INVITE TO JOIN? A. Anyone you wish. You can invite people to join your group by using the Invite New Members box on your Admin/Moderator page. You can either input individual email addresses into the email box and click on Send Invite - or click on Create Multiple Invite to send as many invitations as you like in one go. Q. CAN I COMMUNICATE WITH GROUP MEMBERS? A. Certainly. You can email members individually or collectively, or leave messages on your message-board. Q. WHAT INFORMATION CAN I INCLUDE ON MY PAGE? A. You can include as much or as little information about your group as you want, such as where you meet, when you meet, what you do, plus you can update your notice-board and diary, and even upload newsletters, spreadsheets and other files. Q. WHAT OTHER FUNCTIONS ARE THERE ON THE SITE? A. You can post and view photos from recent trips or events, vote for where you would like to go on your next group trip, and even make friends with other groups. Q. HOW DO I SET UP MY PAGE? A. Simply visit www.clubtogether.org/group_organisers to register (or log in if you’re already a member) and click on the Create Group button on your account page. It’s that easy!
See page 14 for details of all our membership benefits. 3

associate member spotlight In the first of a new series, we talk to Lol Nichols, General Sales Manager at Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, to find out what, as an Associate Member, they have to offer Club Together groups…
get ready to
set sail with your group
CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT THE CRUISES YOU OFFER TO GROUP TRAVELLERS?
Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines departs from UK ports to destinations in Scandinavia and Northern Europe, the Baltic, the Mediterranean, Canary Islands, Caribbean, South America, plus Round the World cruises, so there’s plenty of choice. HOW DO YOU CATER FOR GROUPS?
We arrange an exclusive check-in at the port, seating together in the restaurant for dinner, an exclusive cocktail party, plus shore excursions can be arranged in advance. DO YOU OFFER ANY DISCOUNTS?
Special prices are available to groups plus complimentary added benefits are often available, such as transportation between specified pick-up point and departure port, or an on-board spend credit which can be used to offset the cost of drinks, excursions etc. DO YOU OFFER COACH DRIVER AND GROUP ORGANISER INCENTIVES?
As part of the overall group benefit there will be free places subject to group numbers. These range from 1 free place in 10 to 1 free in 25 depending on the cruise selected and time of year. We can also arrange for a familiarisation day visit for the group organiser to a ship whilst in a UK port. This will include a ship tour and lunch on board. DO YOU OFFER HELP AND ADVICE IN THE PLANNING STAGES?
Yes, we provide as much assistance as possible in planning a group trip on a cruise. Different groups have different requirements and we will do our best to accommodate special activities or requests. If required we will also arrange for group organisers to meet with key personnel on board ship in advance of the cruise. TELL US ABOUT THE FRED OLSEN SHIPS?
After October 2009 there will be 4 ships in the Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines fleet: Black Watch, Braemar, 4
Boudicca and Balmoral. Black Watch and Boudicca are sister ships and each can accommodate approximately 800 passengers. Braemar has a capacity for 900 passengers and Balmoral can sleep up to 1,350 passengers. Each ship has a choice of main restaurant

c.t.magazine dining or a less formal alternative, plus a show venue, a choice of bars and evening entertainment, a swimming pool, card room and an Explorers Library. TELL US SOME MORE ABOUT THE ENTERTAINMENT.
There is a main show every evening along with a different form of entertainment in a separate lounge. Late night dancing is featured in at least one venue. During the daytime there are lectures given by experts in their field along with a whole host of other activities such as deck games, quizzes, recitals – all featured in the daily programme which details times and venues. WHAT IS THE ACCOMMODATION LIKE ONBOARD?
Accommodation is in cabins, which vary in size depending on the ship. Most cabins have 2 beds, however single cabins also feature along with 3 and 4 berth cabins. Some cabins, including most suites, also have a balcony, and they all have an en-suite bathroom with either a shower or bath. DO YOU OFFER VOUCHERS FOR GROUPS ONBOARD?
All meals including breakfast, morning coffee, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner and late night snacks are included in the cruise price. On selected cruises there will be an on-board credit available as part of the group promotion. Such credits vary by cruise duration and can be used towards discretionary spend on board. WILL YOU BE OFFERING NEW DESTINATIONS NEXT YEAR?
The programme for 2010 features an exciting range of popular cruise itineraries and there are new ports of call within individual itineraries. Greenland, a popular Fred. Olsen cruise destination, is back after a year’s absence. WHAT ITINERARY WOULD YOU SUGGEST TO GROUPS WHO HAVEN’T BEEN ON A CRUISE BEFORE?
Norwegian Fjords for 7 or 8 nights is a great trip. It offers the chance to visit a country that is otherwise expensive to travel to and you get to see fantastic scenery from the comfort of the ship. WHAT MAKES CRUISING SO POPULAR WITH GROUPS?
I believe it’s due to the inclusive nature of the price, which means that passengers can budget more easily as all meals, including morning and afternoon refreshments, plus entertainment are included in the holiday price and the only extras are optional shore excursions and bar drinks.
