ABOUT THE POOLS FAQ’s - Outdoor Shoes in the Facility What are the guidelines for outdoor shoes? 1) We ask that all users of the facility remove their outdoor shoes upon entering the facility - it helps to keep the floors more sanitary especially the change rooms where patrons are barefoot - even when it is dry outside, outdoor shoes often carry in little rocks and grit that are hard on the feet and unsanitary - this grit is also hard on equipment like treadmills etc. - we ask that you leave your shoes on the racks provided or carry them to your locker in the change room & carry them back when you are done - health guidelines prohibit outdoor footwear of any type on the pool deck 2) Options include bringing indoor footwear to change into while in the facility or purchasing a pair of fabric covers that go over your outdoor shoes (these are available at the pool) 3) What about those who don’t wish to remove their shoes? Our policy is to be respectful and ask politely. Most patrons respect the “No Shoes on Deck” policy even if they don’t wish to take their shoes off in the facility Please help us to keep the facilities in great shape by removing your outdoor footwear. The staff and other patrons really appreciate the assistance especially on busy days or days that the weather isn’t the greatest.

Let it Snow! This winter, take the time to stop and look closely at the snowflakes landing on your jacket. Below are a few examples of different snowflake structures. Stellar Dendrites

‘Dendritic’ means “tree-like”, so look for crystals that have branches and sidebars. This type is usually large (2-4 mm) and the shape can be seen easily with the naked eye.

It is very rare to find a perfectly symmetrical snowflake Each arm of a snowflake forms independently and therefore is unique in shape and size. Most arms appear identical because they were all subject to the same weather conditions.

Join us to learn more about your natural world!

Look carefully. Can you see the two hollow spots at each end of this column? These flakes are very small and require a lot of magnification to be seen this well.
