SECTION 7: HEALTH AND SAFETY
Student Health Student Health Services (SHS) is a quality, fullservice medical facility available to all LMU students enrolled in six or more units. The staff includes a board-certified internist, certified nurse practitioners, registered nurses, medical assistants, an X-ray technologist, and administrative staff. SHS offers a wide range of services to meet students’ health care needs including treatment for illnesses and injuries, dermatological care, preventive care, prescriptions, vaccinations, lab work, X-rays, and allergy injections. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m. with extended hours on Wednesdays until 7 p.m. during the academic year.
Accreditation SHS is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) and is staffed by highly trained and experienced health care providers.
Eligibility All students enrolled in six or more semester hours are eligible to receive health services. Students are seen by appointment only unless it is an emergent health problem. Appointments can be made

by accessing the MyHealth Portal, calling 310.338.2881, or stopping in to schedule an appointment at the front desk. In order to avoid scheduling errors or conflicts, as well as for privacy reasons, we require students to make their own appointments.
Health-Related Charges There is no charge for undergraduate students to be seen by a member of SHS staff; however, graduate students are charged a $50.00 access fee per semester if they visit SHS. Additional charges may be incurred by all students if they require medications, procedures, x-rays, and/or lab work during the course of their visit. These charges are posted directly to the student account. SHS does not bill insurance carriers directly and, therefore, we do not require proof of health insurance at the time of a student’s visit. However, we can provide a detailed billing statement which may be submitted to your insurance company for reimbursement of health charges.
