Park Spotlight: Kidsville at City Park 5205 Bransford Road

Springing from an idea first proposed in 1991, the original Kidsville was built in 1993 by community volunteers working more than 11,000 volunteer hours. That’s 2,750 four-hour work slots that volunteers filled to build the original Kidsville playground. Built over four November days, the original Kidsville project volunteers encompassed every demographic--old, young, mothers, fathers, grandparents, children, and high school kids. The result was something very special, reflective of the volunteers that built it. But all things come to pass. After 18 years of love, laughter, and memories, the equipment in the original Kidsville had become weathered and worn. It was time for a new Kidsville—modern, state-of-the-art, and with up-to-date safety standards. In 2011, the new Kidsville opened. It’s a place for children to play, explore, and use their imaginations. The new design compliments the character of “Kidsville” and allows for easy child supervision, creating a family friendly playground that encourages childparent interaction and use by the entire family. Inclement Weather Procedures For the safety of our patrons, Colleyville recreation classes and programs will be cancelled or delayed in the event of bad or dangerous weather. Watch for announcements on local media channels about city or GCISD closings or delays, and on the city website at Colleyville.com.
