Registration can be completed online, in-person, or over the phone. Service fees apply for online registration and are non-refundable.

Grand Opening of the Recreation Center

The grand opening of the Recreation Center will be Tuesday, August 27 from 6-8pm. The newly renovated basketball/volleyball gymnasium is ready for play. The facility will still be partially under construction for the renovation of the auxiliary gym on the north side of the building. The facility includes classrooms, group fitness rooms, and a gymnasium, which will be in full use this fall. Please plan to visit Colleyville’s Recreation Center soon!

Membership

Memberships are available to residents of ages 13 and over. Memberships are required for any resident participating in any recreation class, program, activity, or free play. Non-residents may register for programming and each class will incur a $5 non-resident fee.

Christmas Tree Lighting Celebration

Christmas time is here! Join the community for the annual lighting of the Christmas tree outside Colleyville City Hall to ring in the holidays! Attractions include balloon artists, a giant snow globe, food trucks, choir performances, a Christmas light tunnel, and more!

The splash pad at McPherson Park will close on Mon., Oct. 14.

Remember to stop by and write your letter to Santa this year! There will be a magical mailbox on the steps of City Hall that Santa and Mrs. Claus will deliver when they come to see us at this event. Santa is even bringing his reindeer!

Mega Machines Robotics (AM)

Welcome to Snapology’s Mega Machine Robotics class, where your child will embark on an adventure of creating their favorite motorized vehicles and machines! In this dynamic program, students will delve into the fascinating realms of gear ratio, sensors, pulleys, cranks, and programming, all while constructing an exciting array of trucks, space rovers, helicopters, and more. Ensuring a perfect blend of fun and learning, your child is guaranteed to have a blast as they build, explore, and engage in hands-on play within the thrilling world of Mega Machines!

Pokemania (PM)

Get ready to embark on an exciting adventure in the Pokémon world with Pokemania! Students will build their own training gyms and create unique battles with their friends. Students get to showcase their creativity and improve their problem-solving skills designing their very own generation of Pokémon to add to the Pokémon world. We’ll explore real-world science by examining the habitats, characteristics, and needs of different Pokémon to learn about biology and ecology in a fun and engaging way. We will have new activities and builds for students who have previously joined us for Pokemania!

Adventure in Art

Inspiring holiday subjects include animals, lush landscapes, splashy seascapes, colorful florals, and other fun still lifes kids will love! Your artist will create four holiday-themed masterpieces you will be proud to frame and treasure using watercolors and acrylics. Your artist will learn perspective, color theory, composition, brush loading techniques, and much more! Please bring a snack, water, paper towels, and wear old clothes. A separate $40 supply fee is due on the first day of the class by cash or check.

HOLIDAY CAMPS

Join us during school breaks for tons of challenging chess lessons, exciting games, and cool prizes. You’ll improve your chess skills, meet new friends, and work out your most powerful muscle - your brain! Our camps include fun team chess games (like Corner Chess), recess time (of course), snacks, tournaments, and puzzles. We include all the materials necessary for your child to participate. Advanced Mining and Building

From the virtual 2D world of Minecraft to the physical realm of this reality, your child will still practice their creativity and construction skills using the themes they know and love. As much fun as world building is in Minecraft with unlimited resources, the restrictions and challenges posed in this class will have them thinking of Minecraft and construction in new ways. Not only do we embrace the game’s ability to educate students about core concepts, we use it to creatively build on engineering concepts using LEGOs first.

YOUTH CLASSES

Fall Youth Volleyball League

The league is designed to introduce youth to the game of volleyball. It was created to provide a safe, fun environment to learn the game through practices, teaching the fundamental volleyball skills, sport ethics, and league competition. A team will consist of 8-12 players. Teams will practice for one hour a week. The league will have eight weeks of regular season games, played on Saturdays, followed by a single elimination tournament. Players will receive a jersey. Team t-shirts are available at registration for $15 each.

Team Registration

Coaches must contact the Parks and Recreation Department to provide their team information, book a practice time, and set up a team code. The team code is required for registration.

Free Agent Registration

Free agent players will be placed on a team based on information provided at registration, if and when a coach volunteers. If you would like to volunteer to coach, please contact the Parks and Recreation Department. Staff will email practice and team details once a free agent player has been placed on a team. If staff is unable to place a free agent player on a team, a refund will be provided. Service fees assessed online are non-refundable.

FIRST LEGO League

The FIRST LEGO League is an international competition organized by FIRST for elementary and middle school students. Each year in Aug., FIRST LEGO League Challenge teams are introduced to a scientific and real-world challenge for teams to focus and research on for the school year. The robotics part of the competition involves designing and programming LEGO Education SPIKE robots to complete tasks. The students work out a solution to a problem related to the theme, which changes every year, and then meet for regional, national, and international tournaments to compete, share their knowledge, compare ideas, and display their robots.

Snapology and FIRST LEGO League are designed to get children excited about science and technology, and teach them valuable employment and life skills while growing social skills. Students work on teams and learn about FIRTS’s Core Values of discovery, innovation, impact, teamwork, inclusion, and fun. Teams are even scored on their Gracious Professionalism during games. HomeFit PE

An engaging physical education program designed specifically for homeschool students! Students will participate in a variety of physical activities that promote fitness, fun, coordination, and overall wellbeing. Regular assessments will help track each student’s progress and growth, ensuring they develop healthy habits and improve their physical abilities. The ultimate gym class for homeschool students who love to have fun and stay active! This class focuses on gym games that encourage friendly competition and team spirit. Our emphasis on sportsmanship and cooperation ensures a positive and enjoyable experience for everyone. Amazing Athletes

Amazing Athletes uses a multi-sport program to benefit kids physically, mentally, socially, and emotionally. Our program introduces the fundamentals of 10 different sports in a non-competitive environment. Children in Amazing Athletes routinely gain greater confidence, learn to combine fitness with fun, and develop six key motor skills: balancing, running, jumping, throwing, catching, and kicking. Jo-Ann’s Little Dancers equips children with basic art and dance techniques. Children explore building, programming, and interactive play, fostering a love for technology from a young age.

Real World Robotics

Junior Planes, Trains, and Automobiles

Embark on a journey through the world of transportation with Snapology’s Junior Planes, Trains, and Automobiles class! In this dynamic program, young learners will dive into the vital role of transportation in connecting communities and the world. Using K’Nex and DUPLO, participants will unravel the significance of various modes of transport, from cars and buses to trains and airplanes, through hands-on building activities. Constructing models representing cars, trains, boats, and more, children will not only acquire transportation knowledge but also experience crucial social interactions as they collaborate with partners and learn within a group setting.

In Snapology’s Real World Robotics class, students interested in technology will create robotic models inspired by real life robotic technologies. Students will learn about gear ratio, sensors, simple machines, and programming as they build alarm devices, earthquake detectors, robotic arms, and much more. Your child will have a blast exploring the world of robotic technologies as they build, learn, and play.

Planes, Trains, and Automobiles

In Snapology’s Planes, Trains, and Automobiles class, children will explore the world of transportation. Students will build models of their favorite forms of transportation as they learn about energy, wheels and axles, air resistance, and more. They will also learn about the history and modern use of these vehicles and apply this knowledge to their builds.

Junior Builders

Does your little learner love to tinker and create new things? If so, they’re going to love Snapology’s Junior Builders class! This program will give your learner opportunities to build functional DUPLO models of amusement park rides, boats, ramps, cars, and so much more! As your learner works alongside other little engineers, they will be learning the importance of teamwork and how collaboration is an essential component of engineering and design. This program will introduce even the newest of students to a safe, collaborative, and creative classroom environment. No class Nov. 28.

Super Structures

In Super Structures class, students will embark on a week of fun games and challenges while learning to transform their concepts into tangible structures using LEGO bricks. Guided through the building design process, from crafting detailed floor plans to disaster-proofing structures, participants will develop architectural and engineering skills. Through hands-on activities, they’ll grasp fundamental concepts like creating floor plans, developing scale models, and designing reinforcements for foundations, all while exploring different architectural styles throughout history. Launch your kids into the world of game creation by harnessing the power of Roblox Studio to learn key concepts in game design and development. Make a Movie

Our classic Make a Movie program takes students behind the scenes as they learn how to make their own short films. Students will be able to share their movies with family and friends.

Girls on the Run is an afterschool youth development program for girls in 3rd-8th grade. Our mission is to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates movement and running. Through thought-provoking discussion and fun activities, Girls on the Run uplifts and empowers girls in our community and prepares them to become the leaders of tomorrow. Our programs unlock life skills through curricula that inspires confidence and weaves physical activity into thought-provoking lessons. In addition, our program offers girls a tangible sense of achievement by helping them set goals for the end-of-season 5K scheduled for Nov. 23 and gets girls involved in hands-on community impact projects. Now more than ever, girls need opportunities to develop skills in cooperation and collaboration. They need to feel supported in identifying and expressing their emotions and need to be equipped with the ability to create and foster strong, healthy relationships with their peers. Enrollment Process

Individuals interested in Abilities IGNITED programs must go through an intake interview before registering. If you’re looking for well-organized pick up basketball games that take away the stress of arguments, chaotic play, and never-ending matches, join us for structured basketball games complete with referees, scoreboards, and a game timer. Players will be grouped into teams based on their arrival order: the first five players will form one team, the next five will form the opposing team, and so forth. Each game will last for 12 minutes with a running clock and the winning team stays. There will be a two minute break in-between games. Please bring a reversible jersey. No games Nov. 28.
