Once referred to as Armistice Day, Veterans Day is a time to recognize all the men and women who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces during wartime and peacetime. According to the Department of Veterans Affairs, there are over 21.8 million veterans in the United States, many of whom served in wars, like the Korean Conflict, and the Persian Gulf War. Don’t worr y about the wicked or envy those who do wrong For like grass, they soon fade away Like spr ing flowers, they soon wither Psalm 37:1 2 Timothy, I thank God for you the God I ser ve with a clear conscience, just as my ancestors did Night and day I constantly remember you in my prayers I long to see you again for I remember your tears as we par ted And I will be filled with joy when we are together again 2 Timothy 1:3 4 REFLECTION: An issue in our culture today is making sure ever yone gets enough pats on the back However, hear ing “way to go” multiple times can tr ivialize the benefit needed for a person As a pastor, I cannot give enough “way to go” to Chr istians because they can never get enough of God’s love We have been graciously blessed with God’s gift of a pur ifying Son Chr ist is the best thing that has ever happened to us We see this encourage ment from Paul, who blesses his fr iend Timothy by saying, “I constantly remember you in my prayers This is a Chr ist centered relationship where both par ties feel a deep love and respect for one another, (vs 4 “I remember your tears”) Paul and Timothy tr uly will never forget each other, and they pray for each other Ever y Chr istian who prays for a loved one understands that the act of praying causes great intimacy with God Paul is modeling for us a great way of praying for others He gives thanks to God for Timothy and his fr iendship I have found that when I pray for people for a long time I eventually am more willing to pray with them in their presence Paul is filled with thanksgivings and joy for his fr iend because of what God has done Who is on your list that br ings a smile to your face when you pray for them?

Twyman Laura moved to Bangor in 1942 and gradu ated from Bangor High School On October 21, 1950 she married David Olson and in 1958 they moved to Romeo, Michigan Laura served as Deputy Clerk for Washington Township in Washington, Michigan for 20 years She was active in the Methodist Church in Romeo and after retiring she volunteered at Crittenden Hospital in Rochester Laura moved to Otsego in 1992 and was a member of the Otsego United Methodist Church She volunteered with Wings of Hope Hospice, Borgess Hospital and Borgess Visiting Nurses and Hospice Surviving are her son, Stefan (Elizabeth) Olson; grandchildren, Neal John and Kate Olson; great granddaughter Amelia; special daughter in law, Janice Olson; along with many nieces and nephews She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, David Olson; granddaughter, Courtney Olson and siblings, Paul Twyman Jr, Emma Wood and Pearl Nyman According to her wishes cremation has taken place A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A M , Friday, October 7, 2022, at the Otsego United Methodist Church with Pastor Jeremy Africa and Pas tor Dan Minor officiating Private family burial will take place at Arlington Hills Cemetery in Bangor Contribu tions in memory of Laura may be made to Otsego United Methodist Church Women’s Group or to the American Cancer Society
