Dove got to forage for yummy treats in a pool of leaves yesterday She had a ton of fun using her nose to find the treats throughout the leaves! Dove also got a nice walk and some relaxation tim e where she was pet and got a nice back scratch Although Dove had a great after noon she really is hoping a family of her ver y own will come adopt her soon Dove is a volunteer favorite at the shelter because she is so friendly easy going and happy She could join a hom e with a fun, easy going dog, but will need a cat free home Dove is truly a sweethear t and would love to have children to to grow up with It is recommended that any children in her forever home are 10 years old and up, but homes with younger children could also be a good fit Dove is under 2 years old and weighs 55 pounds

Luella passed away, Sun day, November 6, 2022 at Life Care Center in Plain well She was born May 9, 1939 in Sykesville, Pennsyl vania, to William and Kathryn (Martin) Guthrie

Deborah passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 She was born August 18, 1956, the daughter of Roger and Carol “Sue” (Hutchinson) Rantz Debbie loved skiing and worked in the family business at Timer Ridge Ski Area, where she was the head of Group and Season Ticket Sales She was united in marriage to Harold “Hank” at Timber Ridge in 2000, and he survives She is also survived by one son, Justin Cosby; Hank’s children, Courtney (Justin) Stone Lipscomb and Jason Stone; two grand children, Avery and Oliver; two siblings, Gaylene (Steve) Haslett and Lauri Jean (Bruce) Stone; and her many “greats” great nieces and nephews to whom she was known as Aunt Shake Shake She was preceded in death by her mother, Sue, and her brother Jack Rantz Debbie was a 10 year breast cancer survivor, just one example of her fighting spirit She kept a pos itive attitude and sense of humor and received great care from West Michigan Cancer Center, Bronson On cology and Centrica Care Navigators She kept her sense of humor and was even cracking jokes right up until she passed away She will be missed beyond words Cremation has taken place A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at a later date Me morial contributions may be made in her memory to Centrica Care Navigators

Kenneth passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2022, at the age of 91 He was born in Comstock, MI on August 22, 1931, the son of Samuel and Fannie (House) Laverack In his early years the family moved to a farm at Silver Creek During those forma tive years Ken hitchhiked into Plainwell for football practice everyday During his sophomore year in 1949 Plainwell High won the Michigan State Championship Following graduation in December of 1951 Ken was drafted into the Marine Corps during the Korean Con flict spending 6 months in Japan He was in Motor Transport, 3rd Division, Company D He was honorably discharged in January 1954 and went on to work for Fuller Manufacturing now known as Eaton Manufac turing Ken enjoyed playing on their softball team and after thirty years of work he retired at the age of fifty one After his Eaton retirement, Ken worked at Bob’s Hardware for 6 years and at Auto Traders delivering magazines for 4 years He then worked at Zieglers de livering cars for 20 years During that time, his wife, Margie joined him driving and together they covered seventeen states In his golden years he enjoyed bowl ing and playing golf His interest in golf led him to the Pleasant Valley Resort in Rio Grande Valley, TX so he could play golf seven days a week Ken and Marjorie wintered in Texas for twenty six winters, during that time they also joined the local bowling league An av erage day would start with bowling early in the morn ing, a quick lunch, and then tee off on the course at 12:30 p m He also enjoyed taking motorcycle trips with friends and even built a trike out of an old Volk swagen In a similar vein he built a dune buggy out of angle iron that he loved driving around the dunes at Sil ver Lake when he would go camping with friends Ken is preceded in his passing by seven siblings and his parents Left to cherish Kenneth’s loving memory is his wife of seventy years: Marjorie (Brown) Laverack; chil dren: Sue Thurshman and Diane (Ben) Vail; two grand daughters, many great grandchildren and Tootie the cat In accordance with the family’s wishes cremation has taken place and a public memorial service was held at Avink, McCowen & Secord Funeral Home, Plainwell, on Monday, November 7, 2022

Shelly passed away on Oc tober 29th, 2022, at Bron son Methodist hospital surrounded by her chil dren Shelly was born in Kalamazoo on March 28th, 1975, to Jim & Marilyn Buckhout Shelly spent most of her school years at Delton Kellogg Schools but graduated in 1993 at Gull Lake Shelly worked at Ken Bleeker Insurance Agency in Martin for many years Shelly is survived by her hus band, Ford Ablett; her children, Katelyn (Zach) Steele, Taylor (Jacob) Ford & Tucker Curry; her stepchildren, Cody (Hannah), Dillon, & Ashley Ablett; her grandchil dren, Rylie, McKenna, Payton, Reagan, Wesley, Willow, Wyatt & Paisley; her mother, Marilyn Buckhout; her brother, Greg (Elizabeth) Buckhout, and many loving friends & family Shelly is preceded in death by her beloved father James (Jim) Buckhout & her grandpar ents Shelly's children & grandchildren were her pride & joy When her kids were younger, she loved to cheer them on at all their sporting & school events She was so proud of the amazing young adults they had now become Shelly's grandchildren brought her so much joy to her life Shelly loved to spend time with all of them as much as she could doing sleepovers, shop ping, taking them places or just hanging out at her house with them Her kind, beautiful soul will continue to shine on through each of them Shelly loved flowers & spending time in her gardens, it made her soul happy Shelly loved to travel & see beautiful places with her husband Ford Her favorite place to travel with her family was Jekyll Island, GA She had taken many va cations in Jekyll Island over the years with her family Shelly was the life of the party & the best event/party planner ever! She was quite the character, always mak ing people laugh & have a good time no matter what you were doing She loved to do goofy things & to em barrass those she was with, especially her children Her smile & laugh could light up any room The memorial service to celebrate Shelly's life will be held Saturday November 12th at 3pm at Martin United Methodist Church, 969 E Allegan St Martin Shelly's family will be there to greet friends from 1:30pm until service at 3:00pm at the church There will be a luncheon to follow at the church for friends & family

These are ser ious questions which deser ve ser ious answers The one thing that is ver y clear is that one day all of us will stand before God and give an account of our lives to God (Hebrews 9:27)

A Day of Separation

Jesus speaks to this tr uth in the Parable of the Last Judgment (Matthew 25:31 46) Jesus begins the stor y by saying the r ighteous (believers) will be separated from the unr ighteous (unbelievers) (Matthew 25:32, 33) The parable ends by saying Then they (unbelievers) will go away to eter nal punishment, but the r ighteous to eter nal life (Matthew 25:46)

The Main Point

The stor y centers on how we treated people in great need (the hungr y, those needing clothing, the sick, etc ) Jesus said, “As you have done it unto one of the least of these, you have done it unto me” (Matthew 25:41 45) Thus, Jesus introduced a new pr inciple of judgment: how we treat others

Some will be sur pr ised at how they showed Chr ist’s love without realizing it Conversely, those who did not show kindness or compassion will also be sur pr ised and judged accordingly
